GPS retrofit SCN coding / MOST ring

For those who have completed the retrofit, can you offer and details on exactly what needs done with the SCN coding and MOST ring config? I took my car in today to have this done and they keeping overnight to "call around and see if it can be done". I gave them the SCN code posted in a previous thread but they are saying it is not that simple.

If you are located in the US you should ask "Nuru" about this, apparently some equipment codes arnt valid on the US market, such as 512 Comand with DVD changer and 527 Comand with single DVD

Yea.. I am in the US but put the Euro unit in. In all reality I can live without Nav in the IC... I just want my Sirius back!

An update on my progress...

The dealer I have been working with on this had my car for the past two days. They went through MB Premier (?) to have them get an FDOC(?) to re-image my data card (ECU?) from Germany. MB Premier told them that in order to do this on a 424 coded car (US market) it would void the entire warranty. Apparently they did this for a car in Cali and f'ed it up.

If anyone has successfully done this in the US, can you PM me the dealership that you went through. I am going to try another dealer but am starting to doubt that someone will actually be able to do it.

Seems strange that they jacked up a car in CA. The dealerships can do this with ease, The are forbidden to install software features that are not already on the car though (example NAV Data feature on the IC). But configuring the MOST ring and SCN coding the COMAND and a few of the other components should not be an issue. When I spoke to MB NA, they said that if an owner upgrade/change damages the car, and they can prove this, then they will not cover that via warranty. However, if your engine or transmission take a dump, it is very unlikely that a change form the Audio 20 to the COMAND, can be traced to that.

That is what I thought. I setup an appointment with another dealership for the 28th. I spoke to the service manager who said that they should be able to do it without a problem but can't promise anything until they hook into the car.

Let us know how they do. I have a feeling they will do everything but configure the NAV feature on your IC. But if they do that, then you are really golden. If they have a tech with DAS, they could do it, but will they, Hmmm?

Well it is working!

The first time I took it in I noticed that they had added SDARS in the MOST ring but it still wasn't showing up.. Today I was pissing around in Engineering mode and noticed that under 7.5 (TGW Parameter) SDARS was set to not installed. I flipped that around and everything is working great now.

Now if I can only convince them that it is a good idea to change the 5km/h setting for VIM....

Glad to see you got your SDARS working but what happened with the cluster navi menu? Did you get that up too like Nuru did?

I think Nuru is trying another dealer this week. If he gets it done I will attempt to have mine done. I can put my destinations etc in while in motion so the IC has never really mattered to me... It would be nice to have just so things are "complete"

mirage15, did you read the last 2 PMs I sent to you? I was wondering why I did not get a reply?. The Tech's will need to use DAS/Xentry to enable the NAV feature in the car. So if you can find a tech willing to do that, then you got it made. Most dealerships frown on enabling features that are not on the car from the factory - at least that is what the 3 dealers I went to told me.

I thought I replied? Sorry man. I forwarded the info over to the dealership and they said that it couldn't be done. If you get your running I may try one other dealership.

We also have a local service shop that focuses on German cars and exotics. I may give them a call and see if they have the stuff to take care of it.
