A glimpse of the 204 facelift?

Stumbled across this in EPC while looking for a cable harness, what do you make of it?

I understood daytime running lights would be an option available already before the face lift. When is it that those become mandatory in the EU?

PS. The server at the forum claims it is too busy almost all the time, useless to spend more time today.

LED Strip

- not impressed by them on the Audi (looks like a cheap $20 aftermarket add on to draw attention) - kinda like the lic plate brackets on 10 year old Hondas ...to each there own though.

I will be excited when OE LED headlights are available.

Would it be an easy retrofit? If so I'm in.

Facelift

The pictures of the facelifted 204 have been posted here before. The front bumper cover has been changed to accomodate the LED strip which is wider than the existing foglight opening. The LED strip displaces the foglights which are relocated to the inner corner of the headlight assembly in which the positions of the lights has been moved slightly to make room for the foglight. The new E-Class has the same arrangement when the fog is not down below.

In Europe they just launched a special edition of the 204. Take a look.
All in Dutch (no problem for me ), but from the pictures you can see the headlight units are standard black and it looks like they come with some kind of different color for the alu interior.

Can you post a link, I'm afraid it was not a face lift but a misunderstanding from the same issue, this new option.

I doubt it would be straightforward to install these new lights, at least the W221 wiring is quite different. But there is an after market option from Carlsson where the existing fog lights are replaced with a combination of DRL leds and fogs.

Are these EU DLR leds legal in the US (for those who care about this)?

I believe they are since the W212 can be had with the DRL LED strip in the US.

I like the LED's in place of the fog lights as a concept but even on the new e class, when you get up close, it looks a little bit cheap compared to traditional fog lights. They need to find a way to make it the LED apparatus look like it's worth more than a cheap Ebay upgrade.

I agree when I went to the E class premiere here on LI I was excited to see the new LED DRL. When I actually saw them on a car I was highly disapointed as it looks like an after thought. Now the quad fogs looked great.

I wonder if that new alu trim is metal laminated plastic or cheap painted surfaces like in the B200....I will check it out in Germany in a couple of weeks

This is what i found about the facelift: So do you think that are the DRL's you see on EPC?

X3 and 2012 C coming soon
^^^ Man, that sucks. That bumper really dilutes the sporty look. I didn't like the LEDs on the W212 at the dealership either. I think Saab made the best use of the LED look. And, they were first. The new Audi LEDs do look a little cheap.

Cant belive how you can prefer the quad fogs over the hockey sticks on the W212, the quads if anything looks like a cheap aftermarket option, quads are found on several aftermarket bumpers and looks horrid IMO.

I really like the hockey sticks and think they look real nice and fits the overall design of the 212 model, however I agree that the W221 facelift LED.s looks a bit plain, I dont like the LED.s in a straight line,
unfortunately it looks like the 204 facelift will use the same design as the 221 facelift judging both by part number and EPC drawing.

That's it. Notice the foglight lens at the inner corner of the revised headlight assembly, a P2 car. E-Class uses the same arrangement when LEDs are installed instead of those goofy quad lights.

Obviously cannot be used in the present model.

Isn't that high beams for headlights with bi-xenon? the high beam is smaller than the halogen headlights.

No, it is not. From the outside inward:

Parking/turn light
Bi-Xenon
Halogen high beam
Fog light

haha, still couldn't notice the difference. so, if the fogs are turned on, there will be 4 beams coming out from the headlights, that would look kinda weird, dont you think so?

Nope

Probably but not possible since the fogs cannot be on with high beam. Low beam or parking only.
