Same size, this way you can alternate between front and rear.

I'm going to peel my summer tires off my AMG 18s and throw winter tires on them. I've never really had bad front/rear wear differences and next spring I'll have new staggered AMG 19s.

I was thinking of getting Goodyear Eagle F1s, anyone have any experience with these? I used Pirelli Neros on my last car but I didn't like them very much.

To add to this, I have a C300 4Matic with 17" staggered wheels. Would 16" steel rims fit (non-staggered) and what would be the appropriate tire size. Thanks.

Norm look in your driver's side door jamb, there's the dimensions for your spare tire on a steel rim. I would stick with those dimensions if you want steel rims for your winters.

I have 2 sets of MB staggered 17" wheels / tires and RWD - 30 min DIY and the snows are on.

245/17/40 rear snows worked fine last year when we had the most snow fall since 1955 (when they started keeping records here) 45 min from the Rockies. Only a couple of very steep hills that I could not get up from a stop. Overall the stability / traction control does a great job.

IMO AWD and narrow profile winters are not needed unless in extreme snow conditions or have lots of wet snow 3"+ (in which case go for the narrowest tire / rim combo you can get) or drive in a very steep short hilly areas often.

I've owned several AWD cars and have run narrow profile winters for years on FWD and AWD. MBs great software is a real plus - not needing either any more. We have mostly dry snow rarely over 8" on the road at any time.
