Rear lighter is on separate fuse. SAME thing happened to me. The ashtray socket is really sensitive for some reason. Service guys told me to be careful with that one (no idea why).

I replaced the fuse in the trunk (position#71), and that resolved the problem with the cigarette lighter. However, the 12V in the rear also does not work. I understand from previous posts that it is on a separate fuse. Can someone please provide the location of that fuse?
thanks in advance!

Front cigarette lighter port in my 2008 C350 stopped working (I use it heavily for charging my iPhone whilst driving), and I found this thread which helped me, so just thought I'd add some detail.

After finding the fuse box in the right rear panel of the trunk (same place you'd go to replace rear right lamps), I pulled out the fuse from the yellow panel in position #71.

First picture is of my (bad) fuse, second is of a regular (good) fuse that I found on the internet. You can see the main difference is the metal connection in the middle in my fuse is ruptured.

Some of the online parts stores appear to sell the OEM part ("4205") for less than $2 each, but shipping usually kills it unless you're ordering other stuff together. For e.g. --

After more research, it appears this part would work --

Hard to find these sold individually on Amazon or eBay, but this was the cheapest deal I could find at the time of this writing ($4 for 5 inclusive of shipping) --

Hope this helps others with this similar issue.

    Dead front cigarette lighter.

Have a 2011 C250cdi, and followed the advice given by others to check fuse position #71 located in the boot (trunk to our American friends) just behind the right rear light cluster. Whilst it somehow struck me as illogical that the fuse position was as far removed from the cigarette lighter as it was possible to achieve, I was surprised when I removed the fuse for inspection that it was clearly blown. When replaced by a new fuse problem resolved. Please note that ignition needs to be switched on to activate current to it! Thank you to other forum users for the info, much quicker and certainly cheaper than a visit to the local MB dealer.

....would a 2012 C250 Coupe (with a non working lighter) have the same trunk fuse position - perhaps even the same (#71) fuse?

Not a deal breaker - but cell phone charging would be easier.

Very nice looking car (CPO at that)

This is a very useful thread.

To be honest I don't know if your car has same fuse position as mine. BUT best suggestion I can offer would be to extract the fuse and check if has a clear break ( if you have never seen this before I can assure you it will be unmistakable as the wire will be clearly burnt thru if it is faulty! ). Before removing any fuse be very clear which position you extracted it from, so if ok it can be replaced in correct place or if blown a new one can be put in its place. Removal of fuses is not rocket science or in any way dangerous if you have not done this before ( if you are offended by this I apologise but I am conscious that not everyone is familiar or confident when car diy stuff is involved). Do not be afraid to check any fuses adjacent to position 71, just in case your model uses a different position. Good luck!

I use mine to power my radar detector but it stopped working out of nowhere. Afraid it was my detector, I tried it in my wife's car and found it was still working. I put the cigarette lighter in and yup, stuck. After prying it out, I came here and found this thread. Sure enough, fuse 71 (15A) was blown. I also recall having spilled carbonated water on the center console and watching water leak down the CLR button (next to the command ***). I didn't think anything of it, but again, after reading this I realized that is likely what happened.

    Thanks!

Thanks guys, this thread helped me diagnose and fix the problem.

Yep, fuse 71 with a 15 amp fuse replacement.

Cigarette lighter is fuse #71, blue 15 amp

Penny feel into my cigarette lighter and blew the fuse. The penny had a scorch mark on the side and was a real pain to get out as it fit perfectly. NO more coins in the ashtray. There was no fuse diagram with the spare tire so thanks to those who posted it. Would it be so hard for Mercedes to put the diagram on the fuse boxes??? It was fuse #71, blue 15 AMP.

My 71 fuse was blown. I replaced it with a new 15A blue fuse and my lighter still doesn't work. I haven't looked for a coin in there yet. Where should I be looking for coins? Just in the actual AC-socket itself?
