Is this a decent deal?

I've got a W203 and let my brother drive it. He's hooked on how it feels and went to the dealer and test drove a few used W204's. He seems to like them and is eyeing a deal (private seller). If you guys could please give some pointers, that'd be great!

2008 C300 (Sport. Not the Luxury Sedan). 22,000 miles. Seems to be the base model, no bix's, no navi, to be specific. Clean title. We talked it down to $26,000.

Is this a decent deal? What is the usual threshold?

Thanks again!

LS

No way. I bought a brand new 2008 C350 in September of 2008 for $30K. $26K for a used C300 seems way too high. I'll offer right now to sell your brother my 11K mile C350 today for $30K and I put $2K in 18" AMG wheels and tires on it.

While in for service today, I glanced at an '08 C300 Lux which was also a stripper and in a dismal color combination and they are "asking" $26995.

Buying from a dealer has it's advantages among which would be warranty repairs and a rigid pre-inspection. That's worth paying a bit more for.

You can buy a new 2009 c300 off a MB lot for 30k-31k. I would look for a 22-23k price point - private seller
