Winter time in Michigan is coming

I am an owner of a 2009 C300 Manual Transmission non-4matic. I lease this vehicle and will not be changing the tires. How much weight can I put in the trunk to make the Merc better in the snow? I have searched and can't find any suggestions.

Also other then kitty litter (which I will probably have some either way to use if I get stuck), what would you use for weight? My other thought was water softener salt (because I can use it after the winter).

From experience last winter, the car is much better in deep snow with friends in the back seat, roughly 300-350 lbs.

Thanks for the help.
