Question about watches for W204 members

I didn't know where to find and want to hear follew w204 drivers opinion

I am in the market of buying new watch to match with my car.
It's going to be rolex.
But not daytona since can't even get it and when I asked if they have it in the back or storage room, they looked at me wierd(geez I know steel daytona is rare).
Anyhow, here are the choice.
1. GMT Master 2 with black bazel, and black face, steel bracelet.
2. Yacht Master steel with platinum bazel.

I bet you guys know more about the relex than I am.
Which one would you pick if you are in my shoes?
I am 28 years old, btw.

Let me know your thoughts

And one more thing, How much discount you think I could get? (they told me these watches are not for negotiate, but with cash payment they are willing to try). Prices are GMT master-~7000. Yacht master-~9500.

Is your Rolex for show or to keep time accurately?

If it's the first, I might have a used Rolex for sale!!!

Gee, looking at the listed cars in your sig I would've guessed you are looking at a relex replica. Typo on purpose since 'e' and 'o' are not close on the keyboard (see above).

Go pre-owned why take a couple grand loss. Steel Daytonas are not that hard to find even new. I have a local AD that has three in his showcase.

http://www.demesy.com/

I purchased my Sea Dweller from them and their service was great.

Wouldn't be the first time that a car forum has a watch question. Some even have watch sections!

I have the GMT Master II 50th anniversary as well as the Submariner. Both would be considered less flashy than the Yachtmaster. I do like it as well however. It depends on what you're going for. Subtle or a bit of flash. If you're looking for the latter, then go with the Yachtmaster. Personally, I wear my GMT more than the Sub because I like the bezel better.

I've been wearing the Rolexes less and less just because I've been into the larger watches now. At 40.5mm, it's much smaller than one of my favourite watches, the Hublot Big Bang at 44.5mm.

Funny, I was thinking the same thing. Probably my next watch. Or go for the IWC AMG watch. (back etching same as my center caps..now that matches my car), but I would change the bracelet to a croc strap.

I've got a Portuguese Chrono and gonna swap it for a 7 day reserve Portuguese automatic soon. IWC really knows how to do it right.

SL63 version:

Likely that many of us are simply fans of "mechanical" things and have spent years learning what we know about mechanical watches....at least that is it for me...
I prefer Panarai, IWC, Ulysse Nardin and Breitling but if all you want is accuracy, stop by Wal Mart and pick up a $10 digital.

more people our age now adays stray away from the beaten path of rolex. panerai is extremely popular among the younger generation (they cost as much as rolex), but my personal favorite at the moment is a breitling. but for dressier occasions i prefer the cartier ballon bleu. However, i believe that at some point everyone that can afford a watch collection should eventually have a rolex. I also like the presidential collection since it is the most traditional and is in my opinion what makes the rolex, a rolex.

+1 on the Glashutte...

I'm surprised we have someone recommending this watch. This is a sign of real class here on this forum. Glashutte Original from the the town of Glashutte near Dresden makes stellar watches that not only keep good time but also feature highly finished movements.

I'm a self-proclaimed watch expert, so I know the detail that goes into the movement of a Glashutte Original. I'm also a fan of the A. Lange & Sohne watches, those are quite something!

Nice piece, another gentleman here with excellent taste.

The bracelet on this piece is great, it even offers a 1mm fine adjustment.

The IWC Top Gun is a great watch, especially the split-seconds model.

One thing that a really picky connoisseur would be picky about is the fact this watch is not a full in-house movement. It's got a base movement from an outside supplier and IWC built on top of it to create the chronograph movement.

A great watch, the Top Gun Chrono is one of my favorites from IWC. Another favorite is the Big Pilot (an interesting Panerai substitute).

You need to do more research my friend...

All mechanical watches do not keep accurate time...

If you want something accurate, you ought to buy a digital quartz watch... Be prepared to find watches that are inaccurate.

Oh, and nice of you to have "loaded parents" who are buying stuff for you at age 28.

Breitling is probably my top pick all things being equal. Having said that the Yacht Master or the Daytona Cosmograph would be nice to have. Tag Heuer makes a watch that is for Mercedes Benz SLR. It is pretty cool but you either like it or you don't. Tag, as I recall, used to be a sponser for McLaren F1. A little disclaimer here... I wear a Tag myself.

It is interesting that the vast majority of recommendations are based on style and not quality (accuracy, in this case). I wondered if I had wandered into an old Jaguar forum!!

It is not necessary to go from one extreme to the other and walk in to Wal Mart for a $10 digital if accuracy is actually important to you. The following links show what appears to be watches, but are actually radio receivers for the US Atomic Clock in Colorado. This is about as accurate as it gets. Oddly, for just a couple of hundred dollars. And, several of them are solar cell powered...so the ultimate in accuracy and environmentally-friendly.

Before you laugh at the brand, it's worth a look at the products. As the buyer of two Rolexes, I am very happy with my Casios. I bought a few in different styles and colors:

I would suggest Omega Planet Ocean Seamaster.

I personally own this watch myself and I think it is by far one of the nicest watch around.
