Sensitive tires?!?! LOL
So I took my car in last week bc the tire pressure light came on. Guy told me it's no big deal so he checks the pressure and resets the warning light. Tells me everything is fine. Well for the past 2 days the warning light is on again. So I call up the dealer and the lady tells me that it's normal becuase the "tires are sensitive" and any change in temp will set off the sensors for the tire pressure. I just laughed and said uhm no I need to bring it and the the tires and sensors need to be checked. SO I'm goin in tomorrow morning to have it looked at.
Have any of you had issues with your TPMS warning light going off repeatedly?

you are suppose to check your tire pressure regularly.
and yes during winter/cold days the tire psi can drop few psi. warm tire will increase the psi at least 3-4 psi.
if you set the tpms with warm tires you will get the check pressure msg every time the tires are cold because the psi can vary up to 5-6psi.

This gets posted a lot in these forums, and yet I have never had any problem despite the insane fluxes in German weather. I suspect the dealerships aren't adjusting for tire warmth when they inflate and set the pressure, and when the tires get cold there is too little air, and by the time you drive to the dealership the air in the tires is warm again but the sensor still needs to be reset. It only takes a mile to warm the tire. You should over inflate by 3 psi I think when the tires are warm.

Funny thing is, I'm in the same region as NJBNZ and I have yet to experience this issue. Are your tires under inflated? You shouldn't just purely rely on what the stealership is telling you.

I live in the mountains of Colorado at 8500ft elevation. Last year had issues with the TPMS once cold weather hit. I found by switching to N2, instead of ambient air, no longer have any issues for the entire season. Made the same switch in our Audi allroad and tire pressure only dropped a uniform 2psi in all four tires after six months of mountain driving. Previously, the Audi tires would lose that much air every couple months. I had always considered N2 use just a money-making ripoff, but now I am a believer.

To be on the safe side, I'd listen to what the TPS is saying.
Get a quality air pressure gage and check them yourself. You may find that one tire is leaking.
If they're all the same, then reset the system.

I have this problem in Northern California. I have reset when cold, reset when warm and it is totally unpredictable when it will freak out. Just started here recently, without a major change in weather. So annoying because mine jumps right to the Red Gauge alert. At first I freaked out and checked my tires everytime it happened, but no changes in psi. Taking it in later this week.
Maybe I need dinner and movie to bring them back to normal.....
