Memory card and radio problem - loud noise
Hi,
Just wondering if any of you had experienced this issue. I bought a no name PCMCIA adaptor with a CF card and has been working fine until today, when a continuous loud noise came on and command says it is no longer able to read any files. The loud annoying noise does not go away until either i eject the PCMCIA card or change it to a different audio source. Has this ever happen to anyone and if so, any resolution? I'll just like to know if there's any DIY fix before i take it to the dealer..thanks!

Shouldn't you first test the PCMCIA adaptor and the memory card before bringing the car to service. Do you have a laptop with a PCMCIA slot. Try playing songs with a laptop and try reading/storing data to the card.
Did you try ejecting the adapter and reinserting? Which brand is your CF card?

I would really try a new pcmcia reader before turning it in for service. If the issue persists, then turn in the car for warranty service. You can return the pcmcia card reader if they both work properly. Also, I'm discounting the issue being related to the CF card, because an error in that would not cause noise, it would just lose data. The noise issue sounds like a crack in a circuit board, either the card reader, or card slot will most likely be your issue.

well guess what, everything is working again all of a sudden. I started the car yesterday after work and music came on just fine from the memory card
Still not sure what caused the glitch but I guess i can now cancel my svc appt.
