Wheel Hangers

First off, I'm in no way affiliated with ECS Tuning.

I know several of you are new modders and several are getting nice new wheels for your vehicles. Even more of you are new to Euros. One of the things you'll quickly notice is the hub bolt-nut system is different that what you might be used to. The bolt is actually plugged in after the wheel is aligned and mounted. This can be a pain in the *** when removing wheels (say for cleaning your nice new wheels). Trying to balance the wheel while aligning the hole while trying to get the bolt to catch the thread isn't trivial and can lead to chipped calipers or even wheel finish. That's where wheel hangers come in handy

These are basically thin bolts you screw in first, slide your wheel in, bolt the other screws, then unscrew the hanger. Simple and elegant solution. ECSTuning makes these as well as a few other companies. Just make sure you get 14x1.5 as that's our bolt size.

I know several of you are aware of this tool already, but just wanted to share with those who aren't as aware. I have two to keep the wheel from swinging. Well worth the buy as I remove my wheel constantly for cleaning.

Ditto that! A must have if you swap wheels or work on the brakes, etc.
I have two as well... the stock plastic one from my old VW and one from ECS.

X3 and 2012 C coming soon
I got a wheel hanger from the guy that sells the jack pads. It is handy. BTW, I live very close to ECS and have done a lot of business with them in the past. It's where I got my H&R spacers and lugbolts for my W204 as well. They run a great shop. In the VW/Audi world they provide the most competiton for the companies in the Western states.

Are there jack pads/receptacles on our cars or are you just talking about the VW/Audi cars? They saved my side rails/stock jack points from mutilation on the 1.8T...

There are jack pad receptacles for 204s. Highly suggest getting them, especially if you use real jacks. Have one myself as well.

Those aren't bad at all. May get one... thanks for the heads-up.

I was hoping MB had a permanent solution like the VAG cars. See the attached pic. The outter part is rubber while the inner part is hard plastic. The receptacles/holes were already on the car, but had a filler piece installed since I can only assume it was a cost-cutting measure. Adding these pieces made for permanent, safe, and non-marking of the rails when jacking the car up. All for $23 as you can see from the receipt.

No, those jack pads are from my Passat. I was just using the pic as an example of what I hoped would exist for MB cars as well.
VAG = Volkswagen AG (VW, Audi, Seat, Skoda, Bentley, Bugatti, Lamborghini)

I never got the pads for my '03 Passat as there are a lot of points under the car.

VAG = Volkswagen Audi Group and encompasses the vehicle manufacturers listed by Doanster.
