Confused NAV System - Help!

The Nav on my 09 C300 with Command system is totally confused! Turned on Nav last night near Cleveland and I noticed it had the vehicle located about 10 miles east of my actual location. It was tracking my car in the wrong location - it also tracked in wrong heading. When I headed South, it said we were going North (on a road 10 miles east). When we headed South to our home near Akron, it mapped us going North. Right now my car is sitting confortably in my Garage, but the Nav system says I am in the middle of Lake Erie!

Any suggestions? Will a reset fix this? I don't want to to do it because I know I will loose all my data and all other settings. I tried turning off and on, choosing a destination, etc....nothing helped.

Also - cooincidentally (or not). our TPMS warning went off the day before and the bluetooth would only receive calls (could not make a call) two days ago - both of these problems cleared.

Mine's been funky, too. I'm taking it into the dealership this week, hopefully, to get it fixed.

And how many satellites did the device see? Just to be sure it isn't an antenna issue.

I don't have NTG4 Comand, usually there is a status menu but at least you can find the GPS fix info if you select geo-coordinates from the menu.

Next page of the user manual shows more about this.

when the map is NOT in full screen mode, you will find a menu-like bar at the bottom of the display. in the middle of this bar, is an icon of a satellite. right to this tiny satellite icon, is a number showing how satellites it sees.

it needs at 4 to make a 3-D fix, BTW.

if you enter the engineering mode, you can reset the "current location" and "heading" by yourself. i think this can take care of your problem.

I selected the display which shows how many antennas are connected. Some times it is fine and shows 10 - 12. Some times is does not show any and eventually looses track of where it is at. Dealer updated the software, no help. So now they have ordered an antenna which sounds like the right thing to do.

Mine just did the exact same thing over the last couple of days. it seems to have corrected itself, although the number of satellites being tracked varies from 1 to 10 at different times.

I will definitely ask the dealer to check it out - of course, if it happens to be OK when I take the car in, they'll just give me the usual "could not duplicate" response.

I had that issue when I first installed the COMAND system and then I went to the dealer and they set the system up and it has worked perfectly ever since.

Definitely tell them it is intermittent - like the NAV app is corrupted on the hard disk

I believe the new antenna has resolved the problem. Kind of interesting - it worked fine for 6 months and then became intermittent, working at most 50% of the time.

Also, Delaers first response was to update the Nav software. This provided a few new features that I don't remember being there before (it is my wife's daily driver so I migh not remeber correctly). New features include the large compass display, a RePeaT (RPT) command for the latest voice direction, and a new split screen mode which shows the upcoming turn on the right half of the screen. I like this feature alot - may sons Magellan has this, my Garmin does not - it is very helpful in congested areas with alot of streets. Also, I think the color scheme was changed - the route is now shown in blue. If your system does not have these features, I would take it in for the software update - the new split screen is worth the hassel of a trip to the dealer.

Do you know what version of software you have installed? (i.e. can you go into the Engineering menu and see what it is?) i forget which screen that is. Does anyone remember?
