Folding Mirrors

How can I get my mirrors to fold in when I park. I've seen other C's with the mirrors folded in, do you need to have a certain package?

What year is your car?
I'm pretty sure 09's don't have folding mirrors.

Only 08's had them. They were replaced with memory seats.

Hmm... I think I'd take the folding mirrors over the memory seats.

Mirrors, again

No he isn't. What he meant to say was the folding mirrors replaced memory seats for 2008 models which of course is foolish.

MB just cut corners on US models and deleted them.

Since just yesterday I posted info on retrofitting folding mirrors to newer models, I suggest you find that.

One question will need to be answered which is, what would be your budget for buying the folding version?

I'm just the opposite, the folding mirrors all squek sooner or later and there is no permanent fix from MB. I bet most that have 08's have turned it off. Meanwhile everytime I bring my car in for service or to be washed or Valet parked they always move my seat and it takes me days to find a comfortable position again.

How often do you REALLY need to have your mirrors folded in? At least for me I'd much rather have the seat memory feature and just manually fold my mirrors the few times I need to

I liked having electric folding mirrors on my peugeot as well. It decreases noise and drag to fold them in at 100+ mph, and it's not like someone is going to sneak up on your blind spot. This is impossible with manual folding mirrors.

At least I've devised a work around to not having the auto lowering mirrors in reverse.. program the mirrors folded down into spot 3 and then switch between Memory 1 and Memory 3 when you need the extra visibility in reverse.

I have the folding mirrors. They auto fold when I lock.
But they are only half folding.
My wife's W203 mirrors are fully folding.
Not big deal.
Better get the seat memory.
I totally agree with Ron Jr.

And with my 2008 C. The folding feature is speed limited, and refuses to operate once you hit a threshold .... something like 35 mph.

(Oh and yeah, at over 100 mph someone has "snuck up" on me. Where there's no speed limit and folks will do 180 or more, your paltry 100 is way too slow!)

Great if you are a frequent public parker as these dumbo ears give a higher chance someone will whack it.

I've had my car since October of 2007 and they still haven't squeaked at all.

That's an outstanding idea! I missed this feature from prior, less "luxurious" vehicles where I got used to using it while parallel parking to avoid curb rash. Thanks for the tip!

They won't fold over 35 or so MPH so you couldn't do that.

Hmmm, interesting. I guess the USA cars don't get all the bells and whistles? I've got the folding mirrors and memory seats. The parking spots in Japan are MUCH smaller than those in the USA. It's unusual here to see a car with its mirrors not folded in when parked. I really like the auto-folding mirrors.

i like the folded mirrors because it lets me know from a distance whether my car is parked or not. in SoCal though, a cool but useless feature.

You don't know your car is parked? Or do you mean loacked, if so I used to use it for that. I now have folding shut off, the squek was killing me.

I turned my off too. They were cute for a while but I figured that if I kept them active, I'd eventually have another service call.

I have auto/power folding mirrors (even my previous car had them) and I love them.

The route I take home has very narrow streets (with street parking) and often fold them in when there are on coming cars ahead.
I also like how you can tell if your car is locked or not from a distance.

I am the only driver of my car, so having memory seats wouldn't be that useful.

FYI: there is a TSB on squeaking mirrors, so if you have that problem you should get the dealership to fix it.

Folding mirrors are nice, I fold them when I'm in a tight spot. Memory seats are nice too. In my opinion, both are useless. I often change my seating position anyway depending on whether I want to drive aggressively, classy, or leaned back like Jay-Z blasting rap music

lol

when you reverse your car and the right mirror lowed, try to press the "left mirror selection button" on the left side door, which is to select which mirror you adjust, and see what happens...

when you move your seat, you'll have to adjust all three mirror too to fit your new position, which takes time.

meanwhile, you have three memories on your seat position together with all mirrors, which perfectly fits your three driving styles...

My C is primarily my wife's daily driver. It's nice to have memory seats when it's my turn to drive.

Uhh, I live in the only country in the world where there is no speed limit. I never set my cruise control to 100 MPH, that's just when I used to fold my mirrors in.. if you're not noticing people in your rear view by that speed then you shouldn't be driving that fast.

I am however disappointed that the cruise control maxes at 130 regardless of V-max setting.
