1.5L/1.6L 3 or 4 Cylinder Engine to appear in the next C-Class.

What do you guys think about that?

Makes sense in Europe or Asia where gas is expensive and city driving is the norm.
I definitely think it wouldn't work in the U.S. as we crave power and speed, especially for higher end cars.

These 3-cylinder engines will probably make its way in the smaller A- and B-class models.

If it's a small, turbo charged 4 cylinder, that doesn't mean it has to be slow. Look at the Mitsubishi Lancer EVO engine.

You are correct, Mitsu's current baby, the 4B11 isn't a slouch, however, it isn't as tested as the 4G63 as their previous engine. Progress is beautiful though.

A great example of a car with similar weight as the C-Class is the Subaru Legacy GT which one of the motors use the EJ255. It's a turbocharged 2.5L boxer4. A good friend of mine has one and they dyno'ed 404awhp, 440wtq with meth injection and 378awp 412wtq without, both on pump gas. Keep in mind it's a perfectly fine daily driver car too.
