Underdriving the power steering
It seems most everyone dislikes the light feel of the steering. Would slightly underdriving the power steering pump help or just make things feel sluggish and imprecise?

I like the way my car steers. I am not sure who "everyone" is, but if you are referring to the C300 it is an improvement over earlier C-classes. In fact, the steering seems better to me over some E-classes barring the 212 which I have not driven yet.

Glad you like your steering feel...some people do but many of us feel it is too light...guess that is why I said "most" everyone. And yes I am speaking of the C300/C350 since that is the section of the forum in which it is posted.

How many feel this way? Was there a poll taken? When was it taken? I would be interested in looking at it and the reasons that people are specifically unhappy with their steering. Have you discussed this problem with MBUSA? Perhaps there is something they can do to fix the issue.

dlb000...why don't you read a few W204 reviews and search the threads a bit.
Numerous members of this forum and most of the automotive press that have reviewed the W204 find the car excellent on the road with the exception of the light steering feel.
I posted this hoping for some input on the technical aspects of how an underdrive pulley might affect the issue, not to debate whether or not you agree with me on how my car feels.

Sure, I am not here to debate you. Only you can decide how you feel about your car. I was asking if you know when a survey of the forum was taken. If you don't know that is fine. I will use the search and see what is available.

I own a W203 and have driven W204s on a number of occasions. I definitely prefer the steering on the W203, but for me the best would be something in between them both. A little bit lighter than the W203, but not as light as it is in the W204.
