ECS failure on C300

This is the second time an Exhaust Cam Magnet has failed in my car. The SA indicated there are a total of 4 magnet "banks" in the Exhaust Cam component, and I've now had 1/2 replaced. The first at 20K miles and this one at 36K miles. They can only replace the one that failed (indication shown he'd rather replace them all). He also said that this part has a rev code 01, and that several parts are much higher (50+). Maybe MB will find a better magnet bank someday?

I asked if I could expect this at 54K, 72K, 90K, and etc. He asked if I had the extended warranty! I expect now that I will have it before the car hits 50 K miles simply to cover the onslaught of faulty magnets.

Wow.

He also claimed it's "rare" on the C class. Any one have other information? I'm worried that this may be the Achilles heel of the car.
