Fuch's Synthetic
Hey, I just got my Service A done at a Mercedes specialist (but not dealer). They had really good reviews. My service A cost $140 through them. When I asked what kind of oil they used (I had inquired about Mobil 1), they said they use Fuch's 5w40. I had never heard of this brand before. I Wiki'ed it and it said it's a large company in Germany. Anyone have more info on this? I was debating buying Mobil 1 online and bringing it in, but I haven't had time. Also, I think we are supposed to use 0w40, what's the difference between that and 5w40? Any help is appreciated.

You should be able to buy Mobil 1 cheaper in the USA than the Fuchs.

Def that is special import oil. They are a premium lubricants co with top reputation. Maybe they did a deal with MB and ship pallets of the stuff to dealers who want it.
Synthetic oil in Germany is at least twice the price we pay here for local brands. They often have much more additive in the mix that keeps the oil performing in extreme duty (like autobahn) and long life.
Base stocks are pretty much all the same - it's the additive package and concentration that makes all the difference between brands and euro spec stuff.
My KTM bike is spec'd for ultra high grade synthetic that only the euros make.
