Tailight issues

What's good MB Fam,

I have a question regarding my tail lights,

When I turn my fog lights in the front, my tailights in the back are not the same brightness. The left side is extremely bright while the right side is extremely dim, is this a normal thing? I called the MBZ dealership and they told me this is normal, and it is how the car is built. Anyone know the truth behind this?

BTW this is for my '08 C300.

Thanks

if you pull out the knob once, it turns on your front fog lights. if you pull it out to the second level the rear fog light turns on.

and its only the left side, so yes, this is completely normal man. its a law in the US mb has to follow. it should only be brighter on the driver side.

Yea I think you accidentally turned on your rear fog as well. Nothing is wrong so don't worry.

If you REALLY wanted, you could wire up the right side so when you pull the rear fog light switch both of them would light up brighter.

Just find the wire on the driver side that powers the rear fog lamp, splice a wire into it and connect it to the right side (there SHOULD be a missing pin/wire on the passenger rear lamp wiring). That's what someone did with his w202.

But this really isn't recommended. You'll blind people at night, or worse you'll **** them off, and you could get pulled over for a fixit ticket.

This cannot be done on the W204 because there is only one filament in the bulb which operates on reduced voltage for the taillight function and when rear fog is selected, the full 12V is supplied.

I went through this two years ago since in past MBs I have rewired the rear fogs as additional brake lights. Including my W116, W123, W201 (X2), W202 and W203.

dammnn you know you stuff! Ive never tinkered with a 204 before, so it was all theoretical and assumptions were based off older model platforms being similar, if not the same.
