Passport 9500ix
Did some searches, and didn't see anyone posting about the 9500ix, so I figured it's time for a new thread.
Being in CA, I'm painfully aware that our budget's shot, and I wouldn't put it past local/state agencies to do what it takes to generate revenue. That in mind, I've noticed a marked increase in the number of CHP and local police hiding behind bushes, behind pillars under overpasses, and in any turns/curves/hills that they can find - all with their radar guns out and happily zapping unsuspecting motorists.
Now, I see plenty of folks flyyyying past me most of the time which makes me less of a target (I'm no speed devil - I drive usually 74/75 mph), but there are days when I'm the head of the pack and wonder if others know something I don't (101/280/880/680/85 are all magnets for speeders - if they're slow, it's for a reason). Usually I slow down, but I'm looking for more intelligence, especially since the 5-0 is getting sneakier and I don't wanna fork over more $ to the man.
The Escort 9500ix is priced within my budget and looks great (on paper), but I've not seen a smooth-looking install of it yet. The ci is WAY too much for me, and probably illegal, so I'd rather avoid it if possible. Any suggestions or pics on how to install it sleekly?

I keep my detector just below my rear view mirror, most windshields have tint up top or those little black dots, from what my electrical engineer friend says it can cut down on the range of the detector. Having it a bit lower can help with the range. Again, something I was told by an engineer but thats his opinion so not sure if its 100% correct.
They sell a hardwire kit for the passport as with the V1, it has an inline fuse and is very easy to install, one wire goes to a ground (pretty much any bolt under the dash) the other wire goes to any switched 12 vote source. Mine is either tied into the blower motor or maybe under dash lights? I cant remember. My TL it was part of the powered windows switch, I believe my Z its wired into my radio/tv input box. Run the lines up the a pillar, along the roof liner and down the side of the rear view mirror.
I dont have any pictures of it in my C350 but here's one from the outside of my 350Z
Just make sure if you run the wires up the a pillar of the C class, make sure the wires are run behind the air bag, I've seen DIYs on hardwiring detectors and people place the wires right in front of the bag, last thing you want to do is cause any problems with air bag deployment.
