11 Hours & 1100KM of Comfortable Driving

We have just completed a 3000 km round trip. On the return journey we completed an 11 hour driving stint covering 1100 km on the same tank of fuel. What was amazing is that my 63 year old frame did not feel any ill effects of sitting for that length of time . The only stops were for comfort/change of driver purposes . Lunch consisted of roast lamb sandwiches & thermos coffee on the run.

MB, in my opinion have the most comfortable seats of any vehicle I have driven. The very firm supportive seating formula wins for me.

Great to hear the frame held up nicely! That's a long road trip... any pics?

I have to agree the seats are excellent, I have the sports seats that come with the AMG pack. The amount of adjustments of both the seats and the steering wheel help. Last week I drove a total of 5600kms from Gibraltar to Hannover to see the CeBIT exhibition and then to Geneva for the motor show and back home. The last leg was a 19hr (practically non-stop) 1,915 km drive from Geneva to Gib. The car gets better and better the more you drive it. I particularly enjoyed the stint on the German Autobahns although I only got to do 240kph just shy of the 250kph this car can do due to the amount of traffic on the road The acceleration from 140kph to 200kph is awe inspiring... I am impressed on the range you got from one fuel tank, mine will only do approx 950kms if driven at 120kph. Don't ask how many it did at 240kph!!

Lug,

Impressive distance covered & speed attained. I would be in goal with the keys thrown away if I was booked at those speeds. 110 km /hr is the speed limit on the freeways here .

Perfectly legal in Germany That was one of the reasons to go there. Speed limit in Gibraltar is 50 kph!! Although in Spain where I do most of my driving the speed limit is 120 kph.

I'm surprised you like the seats. I'm not too crazy about them, they certainly don't compare to Volvo seats.
