I am quite sure I do not have a limited view point but was simply stating that there are a lot of business in North America that operate in an ethical manner.
Anyhow, I have gotten way off topic on this thread so I am out...

+1

It's so unfortunate....some interesting information is shared and then the thread winds up being undermined by those whose primary response is to attack, who don't really understand the subject, or who have some cynical accusations based on no specifics they can share....just angry, defensive people out to prove.......something??????

Take the study for what you are able to make of it....

Now, I'm out too...

I am very happy that neither my Trabband, nor my Yugo have made the survey. Now, these are motor cars, not those silly tin cans listed by JD.

I have both cars... an E90 330 and a w204 C350.... Both cars are good... but the mercedes has a more solid/calm, comfortable feel.. whereas the bmw has a more harsh suspension and the worst Steering feel... i feel that i'm lifting some dumbells when i turn it..

Very different cars... but.. build quality wise... i prefer the Mercedes

Kinda surprised both Cadillac and Ford sit above the industry average. Personal experience has led me to believe otherwise. Sportstick, are there any numbers to reflect the mileage that the cars were tested at (I'm sure it varies...but maybe an average)? That may be an important factor when interpreting the data.

Also, what's with Nissan and Scion being so low? That's very surprising to me, anyone else?

Edited for MB love: All 4 Mercedes that we've had in the family have been pretty much trouble free! Go go German power!

Was your personal experience with 2006-2009 models? That's what this information is reflecting. I think it's very believable considering the drastic improvement both Ford and GM have made in quality in recent years. Driving a new CTS versus the previous model makes that very obvious.

Japanese "reliability" is overrated. I thought everyone knew that by now.

It's not that they're not reliable, its just that almost everyone else has caught up.

2006 Cadillac DTS. 50k miles...horn fuses blown out twice, A/C out, all window regulators out etc. Maybe just caught a bad one haha.

The reason I asked about Scion was because I believe it was Consumer Reports that reported the xD as the most reliable new automobile for 2009.

I've got an xB as well. Thing bores me to tears when I drive it but I've never had any issues with it...so far!

Odd...they even rated the DTS above the Lexus LS460 in the large luxury segment.

I dunno about Scion. From what I've read, the tC is the one draggin it down.

I never had an issue with my 528i and then with my 328i. Especially the 328i was THE most reliable car I have ever owned and gave it in with 45K miles on the clock. I also owned a Subaru outback in the late 90s, same reliability until 30K miles where the left headlight quit working. Not a big deal, but both the 528i and 328i not a single problem.

Now with my current X5 let me tell you, lemon does not describe it and if not for the fact that the dealer has been great, coming to my home and dropping off loners I would be pissed. I had to deal with complete electrical system failure (stranded my wife and kids in a huge rainstorm) at just 6K miles. Another time the electronic parking brake refused to disengage so I had to manual do it (there is a way). Transmission has not worked right yet IMO unless downshifting with minimum gas petal pressure (and other times with a lot gas petal pressure nothing happens) is the norm now for BMWs. They have changed the software on it twice. Changed the NAV as it was going haywire. Although not a fault of the car, two flat tires at 300 dollars a pop because as run flats you can’t patch them. But when its working semi-ok it is a great SUV. that 4.8i V8 is a great engine.
