Halogen headlights not typical Halogens?

Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone else noticed this or if I need to be corrected. But the Halogens on our cars don't seem to be like any other halogen. Our Halogens seem like they have the lens/projector that Xenons have, but simply have a halogen bulb behind it... Where as other halogen lights in other cars don't have the lens and use mirrors in the housing to reflect the light and is very large and unfocused.

As such, it seems that HID kits or painted Halogen bulbs will really look OEM on our cars and not fake unfocused blinding light from other cars with halogen because our cars have the lens and step-down. Can anyone that has HID or painted halogen bulbs confirm this? I got a great deal on a left-over 2009 w204 that didn't have the P2 package, but I couldn't pass it up, and would love the HID look, without looking cheap or after market

As a perverted side note as I am a youngster, just realized that this was my 69th post... lol.

You can use any regular halogen bulb you like, but dont expect too much light output improvement. Those blue coated bulbs are just filtered to create that that white blue color but output is signifcant reduced. BTW, regulare capsule headlight are design different from HID projectors headlights, even though sometimes they do look very alike.
