Kool. I'll go get it done at the MB dealership. I have a 10% off coupon. How much does a service A cost?

Depends on location, how you dress and what the car is worth.

Dang, are you guys serious? I live in a decently wealthy area on Long Island where dealerships are usually called stealerships, but I have not yet got a quote for my service A... If it really is upwards of $200, then I am going to think about bringing it to an Indy shop to perform the glorified oil change... I am willing to pay ~$100 for Service A and ~$300 for Service B. Is this wishful thinking or totally possible?

By the way, I thought the notifications were set for our cars at 10,000 miles, but now that I am at 9,900; when I get into the car it reads 300 miles until Service or something like that... Why would it be set for 10,200?

And one last question - I know I am a Pain in the **** with all of these, but when it comes to getting your book stamped and your warranty. Can indy shops stamp your books and as long as you keep good records of any service, will it void warranty if you don't bring it to MB?

I didnt get any service notifications until 15K. Also, the book stamping is not true from what I have heard from my dealership.

I think the price of the service also has a lot to do with how many other dearlerships are around. More dealerships=more competition. In Seattle, there are 6 MB dealerships within 50 mileas of eachother

Thanks for the fast response CureCar. I guess I will simply have to shop around for my service. But can you elaborate a bit more on "book stamping is untrue"?

Do they stamp a physical book, or do they rather make an entry on my carfax that service was performed and date mileage, etc, in which anyone can do that?

Also, does it void any type of mercedes warranty to bring it to a non-mercedes shop for service?

I am not 100% sure, but I have had all my work done by a very well respected MB dealership and they have never physically stamped anything or asked about it. I was under the impression that all that was needed is for the computer to be reset, which can only be done by an authorized MB shop. I could be wrong on this and I am by no means an expert, this is just from my experience.
Also, I have found that non dealership shops are not much cheaper in my area.

Ok, thanks for clarification. I believe that they do a digital stamp, where your service history pops up when they punch in your vin number.

But as for resetting the service notification, you can do this yourself by placing the key in the first ignition (electrical but no engine turn) and by pressing and holdinf for 3 seconds the answer telephone button and ok button of the steering wheel for the service menu to pop-up.
