I didn't think it was possible...but that may be as bad as the guy who made his LEDs look like a mustache in his lower grill.

I would say the two best options so far are tucked away out of sight under the mirror and along the sides of the trunk, tucked away out of sight for some extra light in the trunk.
Don't put those outside the car in plain sight. As far as ambient interior lighting goes, something more subtle like the one ambient light on the underside of the rearview mirror would work nicely in the footwell.

I am planning on adding a strip of LEDs in my trunk towards the back as that one light on the side doesn't quite illuminate the entire trunk at night. It's a practical application that's not just for show.
