Definitely feel a difference with throttle response, and if you have AAP you def feel a difference with handling and dampening.

C also reduces the throttle response so to answer your question no it is still different when using the touchshift. It should also shift sooner if you don't shift it yourself (even when in touchshift mode) than it would when you have it in S. Of course if you have AAP, it also changes the dampening to continuously variable and becomes stiffer.

well for the first 1000 miles, per the manual I drove it in C
then from 1000 to 4500 I drove it in S because the 09s still kept it on your last setting and doesnt switch back to C
and now sometimes, I drive it on C because the tranny is too lurchy on S. Downshifting to a stop is too agressive to me. plus I like the smooth take off of the C

I actually drive around in C most of the time... Idk why? Maybe i feel like i'm saving gas... Either way, its not a HUGE difference either way... I enjoy the smoothness of "C" mode..

Leave it in S most of the time unless stuck in stop and go traffic where I switch to C.
Anyone know why they changed this in the 2010 to always reset to C? I have a 2008 and would find that annoying!

To op I have 2009 and drive in S most all the time.
Has anyone tested the gas mileage in S compared to C do you
save any gas milage?

C starts in second and goes through seventh gear, while S goes from first to sixth. This can only be corrected by down shifting or up shifting manually, but this is temporary while changing from C to S or viceversa is permanent, except for MY 2010.
To my knowledge, any changes can be done at any time the motor is running. By the way, there are also two reverse gears.

in 2010 there clearly was a reason MB decided to make the car default to C each time the car was started..
It is likely that there was a correlation between percentage of S mode driving and percentage of transmission defects.
More warranty claims = less money for Dieter
