It's kind of hard to see, but it looks like the 6piston brake caliper pictured above BARELY clears the 18" 5 star rim. Was a wheel spacer required?
My 18" OEM MB 7 Spoke front wheels would not clear the 6piston caliper. These 7 spoke rims look like the ones that come on the newer 2012 & up C-class. Fronts are 18x8 with an off set of 50. The rears cleared fine. They are 18x8.5 offset of 55. They look like this:
I looked up the specs on the 5star wheel and the specs were the same as my 7 spoke wheels. How did the 5 spoke clear and not the 7 spoke? Perhaps it is the design and style of the wheel?

Aftermarket wheel companies usually categorizes the wheels into high, medium, and lo disc
high disc = Usually for BBK but equals less lip
medium disc = Made for most regular brakes with some amount of lip
lo disc = small brake caliper with the most lip
Usually it has to do with concave or convex of the spokes as well as how big the hub on the wheel is.

I have a 2012 C63 Sedan with now 8000 miles and I just switched my factory silver AMG calipers that the car came with to a different set in red from Mercedes and have a whole FRONT and REAR set of AMG brake calipers that came off my new C63 Sedan bought in May 2012. My car was only driven for just under 8000 miles before I swapped them out with a whole new set since I had the non P31 C63 and wanted red calipers.
So if someone is interested, let me know and I will go ahead and send pics and other information to you as these are in great condition with VERY light use on them (I don't brake hard
