Group Buy : W5W 194 Canbus LED - Eyebrow application
This group buy is for W5W 194 Canbus LED bulbs
LED Description
This is the latest and most promising LED that fit the needs of the unique nature of our w204 eyebrows. There are two variations, one which is pure white that matches well with 4300-6000K and one that's bluish that should match well to 8000K.
Brief history on W204 eyebrows
Those of you who have been on these boards since the beginning of the w204 model will probably know the angst we've suffered as we've attempted to do simple color matching of our eyebrow (and to some extent sidemarkers) to Xenon and HID color temps. Many manufacturers out there claim their LEDs will work for our eyebrows (iJDMToy, Blesk, Xenonkungen, etc, etc), but none pass muster. True they all work at first when you plug them in and no errors are thrown, but most of these retailers don't do further testing to the detriment of several w204 owners. This is not to say all who have bought from these vendors have their LEDs fail, just that there's enough failure rate that at the price point they've set added to the possibility of damaging your socket, it just wasn't a good solution. One of the issues is the voltage shift that has been measured and confirmed after driving for periods of time, causing color shift from white to purple. The second issue is the housing for these LEDs generates an extreme amount of heat as it's a sealed system with two LEDs both generating heat. The heat is enough to cause the soldering to be compromised and circuitry shift and fall off the LED due to this. Lastly, there is a natural bluish tint associated with the housing so any white light that does not output enough lumens will still output a bluish tint.
What you need to know
For those who have not been following the testing I've been performing, please take the time to go through this thread:
https://mbworld.org/forums/c-class-w...2-new-led.html
In short, I've tested these out for 50+ hours with two stretches of ~300 miles worth of continuous usage from LA to Vegas back and forth. Although this is not a perfect test as there are so many other things to consider including environment, different test vehicles, and longer stretches of continuous usage. Due to this, there is an ASSUMED RISK that those of you who participate in this group buy will willingly take. I expect there to be review thread created after this where everyone can post your findings.
I have been put in contact with one of the manufacturer's lead engineer and have been working with him to try to take care of any issue we might have. They've gone so far as to offer an optional 8000K version which they don't normally sell, but will incur an additional cost.
This brings up the next question I'm sure will be asked...."Will there be another group buy after this"? Maybe, maybe not. If there is, prices might be more expensive as the demand got filled up with the first group buy so there are less people to split the charges. It's my hope that people will step up and not be shy about giving this a shot as the pricing is so low.
Another question is "Can I use these for my sidemarkers". Reports from others say these are too long for our sidemarkers. I'll get the dimensions later, but I'm currently working with the engineers for a different model to be used for our sidemarker and other spots that will match color and also maximize light angle for those locations.
Pricing
Each Set includes 2 LEDs. (Note: W204 Eyebrows require 4 LEDs, so you'll need 2 sets)
DO NOT SEND PAYMENT YET TILL I GIVE THE GO AHEAD
These are estimated prices and might fluxuate depending on how many orders we get. The more we order, the cheaper the price might get (they won't tell me by how much or what milestone we need to reach). Also more we have to split wire transfer fees and international shipping and customs. Once I get a final count of the number we're getting, I'll submit the order to the manufacturer and get a final price, then we can begin payment.
Estimated price for each WHITE set is prices as follows:
1 Set = $11 (Cost per Set) + $2.00 (Shipping/Handling via USPS First Class) + (4.9% + $0.30 USD PayPal Fees) = $14.00 USD
2 Set = $22.00 (Cost per Set) + $2.00 (Shipping/Handling via USPS First Class) + (4.9% + $0.30 USD PayPal Fees) = $25.50 USD
3 Set = $33.00 (Cost per Set) + $2.00 (Shipping/Handling via USPS First Class) + (4.9% + $0.30 USD PayPal Fees) = $37 USD
4 Set = $44.00 (Cost per Set) + $2.00 (Shipping/Handling via USPS First Class) + (4.9% + $0.30 USD PayPal Fees) = $48.50 USD
Bluish 8000K set, figure an extra $2 per set from what their engineer has preliminarily told me (they're checking with their sales department).
S/H cost are for me to repackage and ship out to you, not the international shipping from manufacturer to me (that's already included with the shipping cost). I'll be bubble wrapping these individually for you.
For shipping, I'm just gonna ship it first class, but if you want more services like Confirmation Delivery (Certified Mail), USPS charges $2.70 for that service.
I do take special requests for shipping (Priority, Next Day, Insurance), so just PM me if you want special service.
International shipping:
The following are international shipping and handling rates. Keep in mind that Speed does NOT take into account customs delays so factor that in. Experience from last group buy, some parts of canada took no time getting through customs, while some waited an extra week cause of customs, so your mileage may vary. If you don't see your country listed here, PM me and I'll look it up.

And just for giggles, here's what the cost is for only one set of LEDs from what people are saying is the best option out there.
http://store.ijdmtoy.com/Canbus-Euro..._t10_sku26.htm
$29 a set + $5 shipping, so this GB is good for over half that price. And after a couple weeks of use, here are the results...all 4 burned out with pieces falling off.
Out of respect for our sponsors who make the (MB)World go around, I won't mention their pricing.
Payment
Once again. DO NOT send payment till I give the go ahead. Payments ahead of time for those who can't read will be returned. Once I get final pricing
please paypal me at michaelctao@hotmail.com. Include your username, address, number of sets, and color.

Pics
Here are the pics of the LEDs. Basically you have some normal scorching marks which are nothing to be alarmed about. After 50 hours of use...maximum of 3 continuous hours, I think this is pretty good. Big thing was there was no shifting of components which means temps didn't get high enough for the solder to melt causing pieces to fall off.
Color still shows as close to full white as I've seen. It's also brighter than the iJDMToy LEDs which I believe helps overcome the natural bluish tint that's caused by the housing. To show this, take a look at the following pics to compare.
iJDMToy on right, my test LED on left
What you should be paying attention to is how my test LEDs fill out the housing better while the iJDMToy LEDs you can see a noticeable separation between the two LEDs. This is because my test LEDs seem to put out more lumens. My test LEDs are the same overall design as the iJDMToy ones so the delta cannot be attributed to that.
Color is very white and even though my Nikon D90 is no slouch, I don't think the pic accurately depicts just how white these LEDs truly are.
SCHEDULE
I'm closing off this group buy on Tuesday (June 1st) with payment due by Thursday (June 3rd) noon PST. I want to place the order by thursday night (which is friday in china) to make sure we get the orders in before their sales department closes for the weekend. Tuesday night I should have final payment costs updates and people can start sending me payment.

Azn, the scorching marks were just on the LEDs right? Nothing on the plastic holders on the car I assume? That's most likely flux burnoff then so not an issue at all...

PM me your postal code for international shipping. And I prefer to keep everything in paypal as it's easier for me to organize and refer back to track payment and specific order. If you don't have a paypal account, I guess we can work something out on the side, but I don't want to make a habit of it and open the floodgates.
Also, for those of you local to socal who want pickup, disregard the shipping cost as I can accomodate by meeting up at either the cerritos or walnut weekly meets.

I would think this test is perfect enough. Don't the CClass in Japan have similar bulbs stock? I would think they would sell them for the states cars by now I don't think there is a difference. These look similar to them I am sure no one will have issues with these Great job Mike!!!

BTW, Mike, are you running 8000k for your low beam? How would these look against factory P2 bi-xenons?
