I got my x pipe a couple of months ago at a total cose of about $200 and I must admit this must be one of my favorite mods. Simple but oh so gratifying !! I'd suggest this to anyone even thinking of this mod and would more than likely get x pipes in on my future rides !!!

I've only appreciated it more now since I've been driving with the windows down in the nice weather and I can really hear the car roar !! Mind you this is when you hit the gas hard at about 3000k to 4000k .... yes my mpg has gone down quite a bit but well worth it !!!!

 

ant you can easily take off the exhaust at the end of the lease bro, my boy has an M3 and has gone back and forth 2ce i think.

I cant wait for mine. I am having a custom mandrel bent x-pipe built for me as we speak. The one I am doing has flanged ends so it is able to be bolted onto the cat and it will also be perfect size and fit to the factory exhaust.

Everyone else who is doing the mod, MAKE SURE YOU KEEP THE OEM RESONATOR. You will want to have it reinstalled before you sell/ trade in/ or lease return.

 

I'm really considering this mod, but I almost NEED to hear one in person before i do.. My biggest fear is that it will sound ricey... If it had an R171 sport exhaust note (which is almost what the videos i've listened to sound like) then i would be plenty happy...

What were you guys' first impression of the sound? did it "cheapen" the car at all?

I ordered the X-Pipe, still eagerly awaiting its delivery. Once I get it I will have my friend's car garage install it. Unfortunately at the same time, I will also need to get a baseball sized dent out of my hood - Thanks local little league! Has anyone ever seen or heard of padded car covers?!?!

I took a stock video of my exhaust with my iPhone and it came out much better than any youtube video out there now. My hope is that when I upload it, it doesn't lose much quality. I will also take a video with the X-pipe and give you my impression when it gets installed, which I hope is soon!

I too am on a lease, but I am banking on Mercedes not noticing the x-pipe when I turn in the vehicle, either that or I might buy it.

 

The only real benefit is sound. There may be a very slight increae in power, but you would never be able to notice it if there were. However, sometimes more noise makes it seem like more power.
Im not sure what the exhaust set up is on a clk550, but its possible.

 

I'm located in Portland, OR.... There are TONSSS of c class' on the Island which i work yet something tells me they are not quite "enthusiasts"

I just did now and I have no idea what stage of the process it is at... The website recognizes that the item is paid for on 6/11/2010, and everything is filled out correctly and it says "Items drop shipped = 1" but the ship date is empty when I click on order status with my order number? Does this mean it is on backorder?

I have never received any emails at all from them though...
