Underbody Scrape?
Has anyone notice the underbody scratch against a driveway when your entering a parking lot?
- Not the front bumper area. but the underbody. ive checked and i cant find what exactly gets scratched. this is the 2nd time this happens.

Yes, I think all of us have. Whether it be a steep hill, a dip, or those damn cement parking blocks. Dealers/body shops quote around $250 to get em fixed usually, but I think for mine, I plan on just sanding it down and adding a lip to cover it up. People with black cars have it somewhat luckier. A friend of mine with a black car that had a similar incident just spraypainted the bottom black and you really can't notice it at all.

I have a steel sump guard fitted for this very reason. There is a protruding plastic guard a little further back on the RHS that also cops a hiding on high crown roads. It covers the exhaust system.
This plastic does move up when hit & does carry a few scars !!.

scraped my underbody cresting the hill from my underground parking garage at my last apartment. pissed me off as I couldn't sit at my desired ride height. But now that I'm out of there, I was able to set my coilovers back to max low.

Nearly entire under-body is protected with plastic shields - most likely that's what you are hearing and nothing to be concerned about.

Every morning, when I have more than myself in the car, I scrape the bottom. It sounds like a plastic cover, nothing sharp like on our other car. I dont worry about it. lol.

I couldn't figure it out at first either. I heard it when I was getting out of a guy I do a couple errands for driveway. It is almost as if the car bottoms out in the middle, as I was going over the crest of his driveway.
I have actually located the scuff marks. If I recall correctly, it is very far underneath the side skirt pretty much where the two doors meet, but a bit closer to the rear. There was 2 cut marks that go perpendicular to the vehicles direction. If I didn't reach all the way under to feel it to clean my sideskirt well I would have never noticed it. Check there really good to see if thats where it is on yours as well.

I find it is best to approach a dip or high spot in the road is by going across it at an angle. ie when driving down on to a ferry with a steep slope , position the car to drive across it at say a 30 degrees angle rather than straight on. It saves scraping the underside & spoiler.
