Check Brake Wear.

Just came on today on the way home. Is there higher performance pads available that will work with the stock calipers and disks?

31K rears were replaced at 24K. They charged way to much.

OMG ....... close to 89K miles are you stopping using the "flintstone" technique by placing your foot out the door J/K !! That's comforting to know and I'm hoping by pads last just as long since a lot of my miles are highway miles anyways !

Yes, mostly highwaydriving and light on the brake pedal, I will probably need to replace them soon.

It must have been a false alarm, the light hasn't come baclk on since. Not going to worry about it. BTW most of my driving is stop light to stop light with rare highway runs (my office is local). I still think my rears were replaced because of the brake dust problem they charged me though. I was over the limit in the TSB.

Another round of ICE
From my searching, the only aftermarket upgrade pads that fit seem to be Akebono 1340/1341 (F/R) EURO Ultra Premium. Any experience, opinions?

Ron did you get the OEM pads that came with the car a couple of years ago or the "new and improved" less brake dust pads of the TSB ?? TIA

I would assume they are the new and improved ones. I would have ordered on-line but it is close to the weekend.

Most cars it is a pretty easy job. When I had my SAAB in the 80's that cars fronts were a real PIA. The parking brakes were on the front wheels and they had to be reset when you changed the pads without the correct tool it took hours. I still have the wrench in my big tool box.

Hey Ron,
Can we get a quick update on this? How did it go? Did you go to Mercedes benz of massapequea for the parts? $130 for all four pads and sensor! That's nuts! What about the disks?
I am anticipating having to do mine soon and appreciate any heads up you can give me. did you find a DYI or have a manual at all?

Rotors were fine no excessive wear. Changeing the pads was a piece of cake. From opening my garage door to closing it was 50 minutes. Of those 50 minutes 10 or so was spent gathering tools and such then when I went outside I saw a big bird plop on the front hood so I had to go back into the garage get the instant detailer and two microfibers clean the plop decide to do the whole hood (about 15 minutes gone) change the pads and cleanup. Real easy.

Ron,
Mine are worn pretty good by now. I am going to have to replace / cut them. From what I've heard cutting doesn't appear to be an option. Did you jack it up one wheel at a time? If you have a floor jack how can you jack it from the center? The jack pad fixture only fits out by the rocker panel.

Rick I did one side at a time. I have the adaptor for my floor jack. The cross drilled rotors can't be cut they must be replaced.

Yeah, I saw the adapter on Ebay, I should probably pick one up. Any Idea how much the rotors are? And BTW are you using the Service counter at Massapequa for parts?
Rick
