Engine Noise When Turning Engine Off?
Has anyone else experienced this type of noise when turning off their engine?
Even my manual transmission makes a "rattling" noise in lower gear sometimes....happens mostly when I'm in 1st gear and depress/let go of the clutch at slow speed. Almost like something is loose in there.
Maybe all this is normal with a Mercedes, but I just haven't heard these types of sounds on any other car I've owned in the past. The car is brand new with less than 200 miles so far.

As far as rattle from the gearbox is concerned, as a percentage MB builds very few cars with manual boxes and they have never been the operating equal of the other manufacturers. Magazine road testers have always complained about their notchy operation clear back to the eighties. Sort of like a broomstick in a bucket of rocks.
I know MB builds very few manuals for the US, but I'm sure they build more manuals for other markets outside the US.
These noises just don't seem normal for a $30K+ car.
