I just got my transmission fluid and filter replaced at an alternative shop for $190. I stood there to monitor and thought everything was done properly. I will keep you guys posted on whether it was worth it.

B Service Ripoff
I also shopped my 40K B Service at the Freehold, NJ stealership and Little Silver, NJ stealership. Both stabbed each other in the back while competing for business. Nice individuals but horrible dealership practices.
I ended up going to Autobahn in Lakewood, NJ. They did a "B Service" for $190 with all genuine MB products, including the cabin filter. 2 hours and I was done!
My Transmission is getting clunky so I will go to them for a transmission flush.
They are fair too: My Wife's R class has the loudest brakes (whine) and I thought the rotors were bad. The guys at Autobahn said nope, just Mercedes' way of saying "we're expensive".

My 2009 C300 just hit 40K miles. I had the "B Service" done at an M/B Authorized Service in northern NJ (they only service; no new car sales).
I paid $500 for the LOF, transmission fluid service, air filters, and all fluid top-offs/checks, etc. The only thing that I noticed is that cabin air filter has never been replaced and the tires were not rotated. Should I be concerned about that? The work was done yesterday and I have not yet spoken with the service manager.

Seems that my transmission fluid changes (the abbreviated one) is $400 ish. Even if you buy the air filters, they're at a minimum $40 ish. Don't know what LOF refers to. Depending on what LOF means, you're in the ballpark.
My C300 has wider tires in the back than in the front. I thought that was standard and if it is, there is no rotating.

LOF, is "lube, oil change, filter".
Yes, you're right about the tires.
No rotation is recommended.
What about the cabin filter?, which has never been changed?
