backup camera location

Hey guys,
i am gonna install the backup camera. There are two available camera install locations -- a center location and a right-hand side location.
Since I have static parking lines on the screen, I am trying to make the lines fit the actual view. Any suggestion is appreciated.
Thanks

stock on the C is off to the side. In fact, almost, if not all OEM backup cameras are off to the side.

and what static lines are you talking about? Did you activate them in the eng menu?

Yes. The static lines could be actived from the eng menu. If i am right, this is a feature of 2010 W204 with MM package. But imo, the static lines are all about the software, and you could always ask your dealer to update you software. According to one of my friends who just visited his dealer, dealers usually would charge you for a update.

Nicely work done here!! I like your CB license plate. Looks like you wraped your car perfectly! If i were using a licese plate camera, I would go the same way you did. But I chose to purchase a hand strip mounted camera.

How long did it take for you to finish the whole installation?

whole installation ? hm, taking out the headunit took 5 minutes, plugging, hiding, routing the wires, less then 30 minutes. cutting 15 minutes, lining up the camera the way i wanted was literally the hardest part. shouldnt take more then 1-2 hours.

well where i put my camera there isnt any spot for moisture to go in. i have yet to get a car wash. so we'll see. i dont think rain could affect it because rain comes down not up.

This is compensated by the camera itself, it is equipped with a fish eye objective, this makes the view centered and wide while you still can see part of the bumper.

Btw, those static lines talked about earlier are actually not static, they are used with the japanese version of the RFK, this system utilize a separate control box wich is gathering speed and turn rate signals through the CAN bus, then the HU communicates with the control unit aiding you with these moving lines while parallell parking etc.

I ended up with the predetermined location. Before the installation, my logic behind this is simply following the factory setting.

By installing on the right hand side, the right static line fits my car's right bumper side, which is good for me.

I went to a car audio store in San Jose. I think any car audio store in SF can install for you.

You are correct it is an Audiovox. Why did I go that route you ask, well Audiovox is headquarted here on LI and easily available at Best Buy and I like to give my patronage to local sellers when possible. Also I bought it on impulse after reading about the first couple installs. Can't live without it now.
