Phone Book Favs/Shortcut/Speed Dial?

I have Multimedia package and paired my phone. One of my favorite things on my bimmer was to have the programmable short cut buttons that could be set to radio stations, nav locations, or phone contacts. Wherever you were in the iDrive system, you could hold one of the 6 buttons down and it would be programmed to that item.

I notice that in the MM Command system, if you're in the radio, AM, FM, and Sat can all have their own presets on the number pad.

Is there any way I can set presets or shortcuts on the dial pad to quickly one touch dial a favorite contact?

That would be something I'm interested as well (except on a 2009 W211)! Good question!

I **thought** I read somewhere that if you press and hold a number on the head unit while in phone mode that it will speed dial whatever number is set on your cell phone for that number (ie if you hold down the "1" on the head unit it will call your VM). But I haven't tried that yet. One nice feature is that it stores your previous calls so if it's someone you call a lot you should just be able to spin the knob over to the far right of the phone screen, click and there will be the list of previous calls.

I tend only to store handful of "frequent" contacts in the address book. and leave the rest in my iphone (dial directly from the iphone when needed which I believe is more intrusive than finding in the car's address book).

by limiting the contracts in the address book, it is pretty easy to select your contracts with the scroller. Yet this is still far from "one touch".

I would like a simplier solution too.

btw, even VW cars have "touch screen" for direct selection of multiple choices nowadays.

Indeed, this seems easily added with some software changes. AM/FM/Sat each can have their own presets, why not phone?

So I tried the long press of some number buttons while in phone screen and it did try to make calls but to the same contact. I think maybe my phone speed dials aren't set correctly. I'll have to check it out some more.

Does anyone know how to update the contacts in your phonebook? I'm having trouble assigning names to phone numbers. Thanks.
