Want help removing chrome door handle trim.

Hey guys- I'm new here, I have a 2008 C300 and it has the chrome door trim not the ones on the handle but it's on the door behind the handle. This was put on at the port back in 08, any ideas? I'm worried about how long it's been sitting on the paint.

I think he has the chrome door "cups" to protect the paint under the handle from nails, rings etc. No idea how to take them off but I wouldn't think it would be hard. Did you try a search?

Here's a picture of them. I'm just worried because they were put on a long time ago and done well that i might have paint damage after removing them.

Heat gun or blow dryer. and dental floss, it will come right off!!! then some goo gone, to clean up residue.

I would be a bit more conservative....use a Q-Tip to "paint" Goo-Gone along the top edge while heating with hair dryer. As a gap starts to appear or the top edge starts to loosen, continue the Goo-Gone until it starts to penetrate further down the back side. Floss once you've made the chrome cup somewhat loose. With this much surface area versus a badge, for example, I think you want to be extra gentle. Of course, none of us can be sure any of these methods will be risk-free!!

They are held on by strips of tape on the top and bottom edges and I think that is it. Make sure you get all the tape loose before trying to remove them. Once it is all loose, you have to pull on the door handle and push the chrome piece forward under the handle and pull the back edge out. It will make sense once you try it. Since the chrome pieces are longer than the opening in the handle, it has to come out a certain way.
