Headlights Question

Hi all,

I have a 2010 C350 Sport, P1, and I believe that I have halogen bulbs in the headlights. Would that be correct? I've looked at the window sticker, and it doesn't say anything about halogen or HID or Xenon.

Is there a way to know for sure?

Thanks.

P1 is halogen, P2 is Xenon.

All european produced cars are required to have a headlight washer system if they are equipped with HID (xenon) headlights due in large part to glare from the brighter light emitted. The scatter from dirty lens on HID equipped european built vehicles has been deemed a road danger and must also be ordered with a washer system. You can spot the little extra covers on the front bumper.

My '07 VW GTI has HIDs and does not have headlamp washers, and it was built in Germany.

Some geographies also require automatic-leveling systems. Without that, you run the risk of blinding oncoming drivers also. Personally, I have owned several cars with HID (single and bix-xenon). I actually prefer the halogens. While the light output is not nearly as bright, I could not get used to the abrupt cutoff with HID's and prefer the broader (but less bright) more uniform pattern of halogens. Go figure.

Just visiting mbusa.com and found this HID option description:
"Bi-Xenon headlamps help deliver greater visibility than halogen headlamps because their brighter,..."
Someone in marketing didn't pay attention in English class one day.
