Honestly, the thing with America is that you can decide how you want to spend the money. No one can tell you how you should spend your money after you've made all your legal requirements of course (taxes and whatnot).
Just make the decision right for you.

i love how people are becoming so defensive. Almost as if they knew someone who bought a nice car when they were younger and they are still bitter about that. It is however absolutely ridiculous to make an expensive purchase of any kind with the "live like there's no tomorrow" mentality. That mentality is the reason we are in this financial mess in the first place; people are living outside their means!
however, I'm 18 and I bought my c350 when i was 17 because I had a very good job at the time and I was getting a large sum of money for college/future expenses etc AND I was going to work during college. I put atleast 75% of my paychecks (sometimes even 100%) into savings while I knew I had the job. I also knew regardless of what car I had both my parents and I would sort out who pays what car expenses (maintenance, insurance, etc.) while i still made the monthly payments. Plus im commuting to school which means I save about 10k a year on housing. Point? dont just rely on today but make sure you have a plan for the next year and year after that. It kills me knowing there are kids my age who are just "wingin" life.
Somebody else mentioned that at 18ish we are just blowing our money on clubs, alc, girls etc. SOO TRUE! I couldn't believe how much money i was spending on eating out and driving to random plaaces for no reason, etc. when i had my old car. atleast im eating healthy at home, not blowing money on booz and have a safe reliable car to get me to school! LOL

I read some where that you must suffer between two pains.
The pain of discipline or the pain of regret. So choose wisely.

It still baffles me why a <20 y/o would want to buy a C300. At least here there are so many stigmas that it's a car bought by parents for their spoilt children.
I bought my first Benz (C250) at 24 when I was old enough to appreciate it (coming from an Evo) and was able to pay for it in cash. Cars cost a lot more here (mine was about $85k AUD which equates to about the same in USD at the moment) but I was comfortably earning more than double that p/a after working full time in an accounting firm since I finished high school (and also getting my CA- i.e. the CPA equivalent in Australia).
