TPMS sensors
Question #1
I am buying winter rims and tires for my car and I plan on using MB OEM TPMS sensors in them. Will the car pick up the sensors automatically or will I have to bring the car in to have MB program the sensors to the car.
Question #2
When I put my summer tires back on will the car have to be reprogrammed to those sensors.
Can the car reconize 2 different sets of sensors?

No extra effort required! The car recognizes the proper TPMS sensors upon the wheel/tire unit being installed. I've done this the past two years and it works perfectly. BTW, I got a great deal on winter tires/wheels from tirerack.com...arrived all mounted, balanced, with TPMS installed and lugnut ready! Found wheels for about $99 each, but there might be some folks selling stock wheels on this forum when they upgrade. Tire Rack knows exactly what sensors to install. If you haven't bought the tires yet, strongly recommend Blizzak WS60 or WS70 (newer model).

Just personal experience, but I bought aftermarket sensors from Tirerack and kept getting flakey signals. Plugged into a STAR and serial numbers were coming back odd...when you run a diagnostics, you see which tire has what sensor serial number as well as some extra historical pressure data. However, for two of the tires, it was registering the same serial number which tells me the car was picking up the sensor from one tire to two locations. Sensors should have a more minute range, but somehow signal from one was overpowering the other. Another thing is I would get intermittant cutout of signal. This means that while driving sometimes, signal would cease and car would throw the big red flashing alert warning. Later it'd pick up the signal again, but was super annoying. Ended up buying OEM TPMS and having to pay again for reinstall.
Maybe was just the set that I got, but still...
