Why did you choose the W204 over its competitors?

Another round of ICE
Safety, availability of manual trans, ride/handling (German "feel"), engineering/quality, performance, and when it came down to 3 series vs. C, not having a spare tire storage well caused me to walk out of BMW showroom. A4 lost on quality/reliability, less "substantial" feel, and lack of manual at that time. Interior/exterior design was not a factor...C, 3, or A4 all look fine. I did not consider anything Asian...just don't like the dynamic or body structure feel of any of those I tried.

Plain and simple ...... the looks especially with the Sports package

When we first got the W204 in Oct of 2007 it was the " greatest and latest " at that time and I honestly feel that it's still has it's good looks despite it being out almost 3 years now

Post Bought my '09 C300 4Matic Luxury

I recently purchased my '09 C300 , 17 months old , and chose it after looking at ,and driving 8 other cars...Reasons I chose it in order..1- .LOOKS ! ( stunning car ..it is Palladium Silver)...2- the DRIVE ( handled/felt real nice, a cut above my other choices)...3- BUILD QUALITY...you could see it and feel it ....4- NEVER HAD A BENZ !!...hope you guys enjoy the "ride" as much asI do!....

2010 C300 4Matic Sport, black/black
I test drove a C300 and especially liked the rock-solid feel of the car, the design, and the size. Some find the car a bit sluggish, but I don't, my last two cars were 4 cylinder Saabs. By comparison, the C300 is powerful, and I'm stuck in traffic often anyway, I live in downtown Chicago.
The Saabs were manual trans, I'd have loved another manual, but in snow and ice, I thought it'd be wise to have 4-Matic, which is not available on a C300 with a manual.

I expect to get clobbered on service/maintenance, but my C300 is a heckuva nice car, especially for going to dinner, or the opera. I'm impressed with the reputation of Japanese cars for longevity and reliability, but couldn't pull the trigger on buying one.

I have to laugh, one of my neighbors is an MD who drives an Aston-Martin, and he can't take his eyes off my car. I keep a car a long time, and the only thing I wonder about is whether an E Class would be worth the higher price. So far, I'm extremely happy with the C300, and, as someone else said, it's a Mercedes.

The name is #1. The 4Matic, good here for NY. It had a lot of potential for mods in terms of looks. Gas milage is pretty good and its a sedan so there is enough room for free loaders!!!

+1. Also, I test drive the 328i as well as the IS350. The IS350 had little to no road feel whatsoever and the accelerator pedal was so numbing that I couldn't tell whether or not I was on the gas. Turning was unpredictable as well, so handling was also another reason. The 328i however just lacked options for the price. Sure the road feel/handling was good, but there were little to no amenities inside unless I shelled out an extra five grand or so.

Price wise, it was $35,000 vs. $41,000 vs. $39,000. The Merc was the cheapest, had more options, and was a great balance of handling/responsiveness and cabin comfort.

My top choices were the 328, G37, and C300.

I went with the Benz for a few different reasons, including 1)Looks 2)Overall ride quality 3)Luxury/Build Quality 4)Performance...

Here is San Jose, CA... everyone and their brother has a BMW or Infiniti. I seriously see them everywhere. Good cars, sure... but just not my cup of tea I guess.

C300 Sport LOADED
I been in to G35(previously owned) and 330i and own c300. I must say, I crossed out infiniti g37 because of Seriously loud road noise.

It was between bmw and Benz, I LOVE handling of BMW over benz anytime.
Only reason I chose C300 was looks. It looks just right and looks bigger. I didn't like 4door 3 series, it's pure ugly(although newer 3 series have improved tail light).
If i have to do it again between 3 vs c, I will still chose C. but rather E coupe.

I still love my C300. But I just have to say that the road noise on my C300 is really loud. I wasnt expecting that a mercedes has this much wind noise and tire noise. But again, I still love this car. And maybe this is what you pay for choosing a SPORT MODEL.

It's easily improvable (the road noise part).....note posts #14 and #29...great results!

Choice of tires is also a factor. OE tires are hard rubber compounds for mpg, and therefore, usually noisier than necessary.

To be honest, this car wasn't even one of my choices. I was going for the VW GTI, the Volvo C30, and a Mini Cooper. So as you can see, I was not even planning to lease this car. However, my brother and both my parents came with me and therefore swayed my vote. My brother suggested we test drive the higher-end cars just for the fun of it and my parents hated my choices. I realized that I did have enough money to lease one of the following: MB C300, Audi A4, BMW 3, Infiniti G37, or Lexus IS350. Out of those, MB had the best deal so I took it. I still think I should go back to my original choices after this lease is up and give this car to my parents since I'm going to be a teacher and will be making nothing.

Price... just bought a new house, 335i lease ending at the same time. BMW wanted more for the same car, I wanted to pay less... I liked the look of the C-class and they had good C300 deals so I went for the $150/month less payment and I'll see where I'm at in 34 more months!

Leasing an A4 compared to a C300 was much more expensive...plus I heard that the 4Matic system does better in the snow than Audi's Quattro. That last one is pretty important here in Colorado. Both are amazing looking vehicles, but the C300 looks much more sporty in my opinion.
