Grille removal help

So following the DIY's on here I'm attempting to remove the grille and have completely broken the "notch" that you pry loose (the small circular piece that comes off first). Even with a little pressure from a flat head screw driver it shattered. Am I prying the wrong part here? It seems very difficult to get off....

u dont have to pry it off, just twist it and work on the notches, its not designed to come off, i encountered the same problem but i found out the hard way, its a twist to lock or unlock, not to take out, so just unlock it and pry the latches in other place, u can get it off without removing the circular pin,

Same here. I was a bit aggressive with mine and popped one of the prongs off. That one little fastner (002-988-05-42) cost me $7.20 plus tax. Guess I should take it easy next time and will reach underneath and through the grill to help coax it out if it refuses to budge.

I just took mine out an hour ago and replaced it with an all black grill I got from Ebay

The circular notch that holds the radiator mounting cover is real flimsyso I was real careful in prying in out. Everything else comes out smoothly

Radiator needs to be cleaned... full of dead bugs

Yeah ended up just breaking the whole thing off (meaning the circular "notch"), will have to get a new one tomorrow. After putting it all back together, the hood did not line up and there was an ugly gap on the driver's side. Took it all apart and re-installed, seems I had the "T-bar" too far forward so it was pushing the grille out. Worked fine the second time and other than some sore fingers I am pleased with the mod.

Same here. Just went to the dealer today, only $3.14 with tax. Had I known that I would have just broken it off to start with!
