Yeah, I hate to judge and I'm all for choice, but I see so many older folks driving BMWs exactly how they're not meant to be driven... they are better off with a smoother/softer Lexus/Merc if they're going to just cruise along. I mean what's a mid-50s woman doing with something like a 535i or 650i?

I agree! I see more women and older men driving BMWs too, and they are everywhere! BMWs are like a Honda Civics and Accords in my area.

You meant BMW is for younger folks? Lexus, Benz are for older folks. That is to say BMW will make you feel younger?

 

My V12 BMW, driving THAT makes me feel old. The BMW ZHP is too visceral. My C300 Sport is just fine for me. Although I kinda was thinking about an E63...

 

Love my Benz and I deff do not feel old driving it. I can say if I was single I can do plenty of bad things w my C300. =]

 

slam the car, put on some 19s and get a new exhaust. Enjoy

Older folks who LOVE to drive rather than feel pure comfort would feel perfectly at home in a BMW. Just depends what you want, cause let's face it, BMWs aren't the most comfortable or luxurious - they ride stiffer & harder and the interiors are comparitively more spartan, especially the 3-series. Quality materials though keep them in the segment.

BTW I actually saw a late 40s woman in a 650i in the far right lane of the 495 today... her seat was all the way up against the steering wheel. Was... interesting.

 

Think about this....

How many people own exotic cars?

How many of them are under 40 or so?

Hmmmm..... maybe driving a Lambo or a a Saleen S7 would make me feel old too, seeing that most people that can afford those cars are past the midlife crisis stage or are rich beyond average comprehension.

I'm 26 and feel like I'm on top of the world driving my C300 4Matic Auto!

Don't give in to what you see.... Your car will exude your insecurities if they are strong enough.

My car exudes SWAGG!!! Especially that I got it tinted 20% all around!!!

 

I guess it depends where you are... in Socal I don't (or maybe I should say very very very rarely) see anyone over 30 driving a C-Class. For 40-yr-olds, the standard here is CL, CLS, S, ML, GL... or at least an E-Class. C-Class is viewed as a teen-to-young-adult car here (same as BMW 3-Series).

 

I'm 19 and drive a C. Modding your car goes a long way. I saw a bunch of high school kids in a murdered out jag the other week.

 

If a C300 makes you feel old, go jump into a C63! That should make you feel like a kid in a candy store everytime you start that engine. lol

 

Question to the OP, why didn't you buy a C350 or a C63? I would have never considered a **C300 unless I won it in a sweepstakes. I have drove the C300 and the 350, and the 350 would have been a better selection. Just a thought.

Now of course, you could just mod it up.

 

I'm 22 and I see a lot of young professionals driving around in the C both male and female. The only "old" people I see in the Cs are Cluxury drivers.

 

^^^^ I bought the C300 because I needed something with all wheel drive and the 350 is just rear wheel drive. And I don't think you can make an insulting remark to someone's car and then go back and say its just my personal preference please don't flame me. I mean i don't really care about the comment ... just saying.

 

I don't think Ben was insulting your ride at all, but you should keep in mind that you started the whole comment about your ride making you feel old....just saying. lol If you don't like it, then feel free to get something that makes you feel younger. Just my 2 cents.

 

I'm just over 10 years younger than you and I do not feel old driving it.

If I was old, it would probably be a car that cost 4x as much.

Exactly, I wasn't, just a little humor. The C300 is a nice ride, I enjoy my loaner rides and test drives. It is a nice cruiser I would not mind having as a DD for work, etc. (BUT I have to keep my V8's!) However from his post like you said, it does not seem to suit his taste. Next up is the 350 or C63.



When you get into V8's, AMG's....well you know the story. My dad is 67 and drives a Mustang GT tuned.

 

I prolly would've saved up for a better mid-life crisis car.
