New exhaust and diffuser installed.
Hi. I finally had time to get one of my mods completed.
I had been searching for an exhaust solution for some time. I started off trying to make my own system. Too many headaches to discuss. I even had a great connection at one of the biggest aftermarket exhaust companies in the nation. They reorganized, and after, were not interested.
Then I decided to try the C63 set up. I like the style, but decided it isn't for me.
I really liked the Brabus and Carlsson exhaust systems. The main problem with deciding between them was, I could never see the entire systems in photos. Company ads only show the tips sticking out of the bumper. Very irritating. I believe it's because the systems, along with Remus and Lorinser, are all made by the same company (probably Remus). They are tweaked a bit and re-labled. If I am wrong about this, please advise. If everyone already knows this, I apologize for repeating it.
Remus
Brabus
Lorinser
My Carlsson before I re-coated it.
As noted above, I opted for the Carlsson kit.
I had my diffuser painted matte black and had the Carlsson logo spot filled. I also re-coated the exhaust system. The "ceramic coating" looked pretty sad when I got it.
The tips are impressive.
Finished product (aside from some more minor adjusting). I did not use the adhesive to install the diffuser. I came up with my own installation method. I may affix it permanently at some point.
The exhaust sounds really good. It was a complete bolt-on after the center resonator. The passenger side tubing had to be cut after the resonator. The Carlsson was then slipped on and clamped. The driver's side just bolted on. The passenger side, inner rubber hanger had to be crammed in next to the inner exhaust pipe and on to the hanger that is on the muffler. I may change the rubber mount at some point to a thinner longer version. Also, the tips are not perfectly horizontal. The inners are a bit higher than the outers. I have looked at many photos of these tips and found that to be normal with this system.
Sound clip below. I used my old Cybershot camera so the video looks bad. The sound is pretty accurate though. I will make a better sound clip with my video camera. I'll do a drive-by and a take-off. I think it souns great with a 6MT. There is absolutely no difference in the cabin sound during normal driving. When you hit the gas, only a deep and pleasing tone can be heard.
There is a noticeable decrease in back-pressure. The car grabs revs faster. It doesn't feel like it is suffocating anymore in the higher RPM range.

BTW envyxc350, I won't be installing an X pipe. This system has a mellow and deep tone that I like.

white and whiter
Thanks. Aside from the tips and quad exits on the Carlsson, everything else is identical on all four systems. Even the indentation on the top of passenger side muffler is present. They are sharing blueprints.

but you'll see Supersprint stuff are usually stainless with no coating on it.

Richard2011, thanks. I chose the diffuser because to me, it is an actual diffuser.
I am glad you guys like it.
