Keyless Entry range

I love everything about my 300, but the keyless entry is a bit weak. Most cars and systems have a decent range of distance. I understand what Merc was thinking, safety and security. That's all good and dandy.
I'm not asking for a mile or anything crazy, but I'll take 10', or even to be able to unlock the car from the passenger side when I want to open the door for my girl (without playing 'unlock my car laser tag' through the window).

Any fixes to this that keep the factory fob in play? I have an 08 C300 fwiw.

edit: I know I said keyless entry, but I guess you could call it a fob or whatever you choose.

Another round of ICE
Dealer visit. My remote keyless entry has much more range....maybe time for a battery?

I'll give that a shot.
I read through the manual and it said it only works when pointed at the driver door. So I didn't think anything was all that wrong, but maybe I'm simply down on power.

Good thought!

You can lock/unlock it from any angle from perhaps 75 feet away. Replace the
batteries which you can buy at Radio Shack. DO NOT buy from a dealer.

As to the little window in the driver's door handle, that's used if you want to close or open the windows or sunroof while locking or unlocking. For that, you need to be fairly close and aim at the handle.

Yea when battery is about to die, the range suffers. So maybe its time for a new battery if that's what you are experiencing

Thanks guys! A battery swap is my kind of fix. I'll do that today.
I knew something had to be up, but I guess the door sensor had me fooled a bit.
It was pretty tough when I have a mile range through any walls with my Directed system on my truck lol

Another option could be a metal based tint film on the rear window, kills the remote key receiver performance. Since you are not complaining about radio performance, I would not expect this being your issue.
