2008 C300 vs 2010 C300 - 2010 is much more responsive?!?

HI,

I would really appreciate a bit of help with a question/concern I am having:

I just bought a certified 2008 C300 from a Benz dealership less than a week ago. I knew it needed a new sensor in the passenger seat belt clip so that was ordered for me on the day I bought it. Yesterday I took the car into the dealership to get that belt clip replaced and was given a 2010 C300 as a loaner.

The 2010 drives completely different; it's gas pedal is way more responsive, and the car just picks up speed far better than the 2008 I just bought. is this normal? Did they make any changes that would affect this? has anyone else experienced this? I know it's the same engine with the same specs so I am confused.

any help and clarification is very much appreciated.

thanks,

Jeremy

The tranny ECU adjusts to driving preference/usability, so I suspect that is the case here since yours is CPO it has adapted to the driving style of the previous owner. You can have the tranny ECU reset by the dealer, I had mine done for free when I bought my CPO.

BTW, welcome to the board!

Yes, you can go to the dealer, or do it yourself:

1. Turn the ignition key to the on (not start) position.

2. Press the gas pedal to the floor and hold for five seconds.

3. Turn the key to the "off" position (don't remove the key), then release the gas pedal.

4. Wait at least two minutes for ECU to reset.

There could be two issues here...there is some type of ecu reflash for the 08's that may not have been done. And also the cars have adapative transmissions kinda like every other car on the road today. Drive it hard, and after a while it will hold rpms longer and accelrate quicker. Drive it like a granny and after awhile it shift like a granny. Is is possible that the previous driver of the loaner was driving it more aggressively?

I asked the dealer to reset it since it's there now, but just in case they forget or I want to do it again, if I follow the above instructions, will the car give me any indication that it was successful in reseting the ECU?

thanks again

I dont think it gives you any indication nor is it apparent that it has worked, in my experience...

Problem is that if you reset it & drive it hard... then over time you drive it normally, its just a matter of time until the TCU re-adapts itself to your "normal" style of driving again right?
