How to take off auto tranny shift knob on C300?

How to take off auto tranny shift knob on C300?
Basically subject line says it all, I was wondering if there are pictures or write of on how to change the autotranny shift knob. The local dealer keeps telling me that it is one unit with the rod. I can't believe it is true. The car is 2009 C300.
