Muffler delete?

have any of you deleted your stock mufflers and just straight pipped it from your secondary cats out to the tips?

if so could you post some videos on it

and also, have you noticed any mpg decrease? or hp decrease? or anything of that sort...

if everything checks out ima delete my mufflers this week along with my xpipe that i already have

I've read that replacing the resonator with straight pipes creates a raspy sound. Most just replace the resonator with an x-pipe, which creates a deeper(?) sound at 3K+ RPM. Something interesting that I've heard is kirillbenz22's car. He replaced his resonator with an x-pipe and his mufflers with straight pipes, and it sounds amazing! I have yet to see pictures of the underside of his car, but I hope he posts some sometimes. I've never heard of someone replacing the mufflers with straight pipes.

It all depends on how you drive it. Deleting the mufflers or resonator wont do anything to the mpg. The only increase is in noise. It wont add anything else but that.

I have a muffler bypass on a different car I feel like i have decreased the low-mid range but seems to help out the top end very slightly. Overall, its a performance decrease from what I have experienced. But the sound is soo gooood!

exactly! basically you will loose torque but gain horse power becuase of less back pressure, I will find you guys a whole thread with arguments about this I posted a couple of months back....found it!!

http://www.benzworld.org/forums/w204...ight-pipe.html

-Here is the specific conversation you want to look at on that thread:

Q:dose anybody know about the back pressure, becuase well frankly I dont have any witch as far as I know I lost torque but gained horse power..anybody have any suggestions on the theory? Am I wrong?

A:This is one of the most hotly debated theories on all automotive forums. Some people think you need backpressure to make torque. But people in the know say that any backpressure just hurts you. I agree with them. Backpressure is never your friend. For example, the dual mode exhaust on the new Corvettes, they rate the engine 430 hp with flow through the mufflers and 436 with the bypass. I had a 01 Camaro that I put a cutout on it. It also had headers along with a cam. The car made 381 rwhp with the cutout open. It made only 355 rwhp with the cutout closed! In my opinion, you helped your power and torque.
