WARNING - Muddy sound from Chinese iPod Amp
For those with the iPod Integration Kit or any MM setup that uses the iPod Amplifier - if you are experiencing "muddy" sound or the volume level is below that of the radio, you may be the victim of a MB China-sourced unit, which has -6 dB output and about 30% THD (also some complain of ignition noise filtering into the Audio system). Recommended is to check which iPod Amplifier you have, making SURE you have the one sourced from Germany, which has less than 0.1% THD and functions properly. At the same time, cleaning all cable contacts with a spray can of TV contact cleaner will eliminate dirt and oxidation which is a major source of ignition noise and distortion getting into the signal.
