Overpriced paint!
Ok, so I bought a replacement rear tow hook cover, $60, then I had to have it painted..... $85! Anybody think this is a bit much for a 4" by 4" peice of plastic to be painted?

I think that is a bit much for both to be honest. Did you have it painted through the dealer or a third party?
On a side note, I had just gotten an emergency jacking point cover for my dad's sl (similiar in size to a tow hook cover) It was only $35 from the dealership and it was shipped from germany. The best part is, I had the option to specify if I wanted it primed, or if I gave my vin, they color-matched the part to the paint that was on my car. It only cost me $5 more, so that brought me to $40 out the door for everything. It pays to have a good relationship with the parts guy at your dealership. I would suggest that if you got raped like that at your dealer, perhaps you should look around for one that might treat you better?

Paint and labor costs ($85) for a part that small is outrageous... I had my front grill primed and painted for $100
A local owned auto body shop might have painted that for you at no charge especially if you were a past customer

Thanks for the replies. I'm pretty dissapointed, I mean this is why I bought a Mercedes and not a Kia.... To be treated with respect.
The total cost came to $145, and it was painted by a local shop. But hey, atleast I dont have a gaping hole in the back of my Benz anymore.
So the moral of the story is to stay away from Mercedes-benz of Santa Barbara and use Benz of Oxnard...
