My new E vs C3004M review...
Hey guys, have finally had my new E3504M for a decent amount of time and wanted to write up a little review as promised.
Right off the bat, these are two very different cars. The C300 definitely has the most sporty disposition, but the E is no slouch by any means either. Realistically, the longer wheelbase does not work in handling's favor. The E definitely has a more substantive steering feel which is quite direct whereas the C was much more nimble and crisp (it could also be a bit "jumpy"). I definitely feel that the suspension is much softer and much more forgiving in the E than it ever was in the C.
That being said, the E is much more stable at speed and insulates the driver even more from the forces being applied to the car.
From an interior perspective, the sport steering wheel is awesome - so meaty an perfectly formed to your hands. The overall fit and finish is much better and has a lot more creature comforts from the S. Seats are much more supportive and hold you in your seat much better when turning. Everything is really quite similar with much more of a luxury influenced design.
Don't really know what else to say so feel free to ask questions
I have to say I am in love with this car..
Cheers

2017 E300
Im interested if you test drove the E coupe while you are at it. From sitting in the E sedan briefly, I could tell that it is almost on a totally different level than the C in terms of material and design. But from the pictures of the E coupe, much of the interior looks like it was borrowed from the C. I wonder if there is a difference between the E coupe and sedan in terms of materials.

You came from a C300 so it probably feels quicker to you?
Any chance you ever drove a C350 with any regularity? I was thinking when I trade the C in for an E -- at least a year or two away -- I'd have to go for the 550, the E350 would be a slower car than the C350.
Not that speed is absolutely important to me. I just feel like, at a certain price point, it's something I personally value for myself.
I drove my bosses 528i and cried a little. It's like somebody took what could've been a wonderful car and clipped its *****. Though that was quite a bit less powerful than the E350, i'm just sharing for the sake of comparison.

Great post +1 - appreciate the take you have on this since you are C300'er and made the move (something I would like to do next year). I remember sitting in the E the day I picked up the C and thinking "damn you woman, the fit and finish of the material are uncomparable between the two..." the woman being my wife

2012 C250 Coupe
I was debating between the new E-class or my c-class when I got my car. The biggest clincher for me was the sheer size of the e-class. The c was much smaller and I felt it would be easier to get in and out of parking spots. Much more suitable for college parking lots. Have you noticed that the E-class is a bit tougher to navigate into tough spots or have to make 3 point turns where your c would "swing it".
Also, what about fuel economy, granted the e has the 3.5 engine vs the c300, but have you noticed a big hit? Lastly, if you could do it over again, would you opt for the 500?

Thanks everyone!
E coupe is very different from the E sedan imo...has a greater focus on sporty design which in-turn yields a greater use of plastics and harder surfaces..don't get me wrong, it's a beautiful car, but it just doesn't have the same feel as the sedan.
The sedan is definitely quicker - especially from a torque perspective, but it really insulates you from the feeling of speed..Have driven the C350 with great regularity and the e is nowhere near as light on it's feet. Had I been at a different point in my life I would have most definitely gotten the 550 - an absolutely fantastic machine...not to mention that you don't just pick up the engine, you also get the upgraded suspension..."It's like somebody took what could've been a wonderful car and clipped its *****. LMAO
"I remember sitting in the E the day I picked up the C and thinking "damn you woman, the fit and finish of the material are uncomparable between the two..." the woman being my wife" I think you just won post of the year award...
The E definitely holds its own in tight spaces...realistically, the car is just as capable if not more imo, I'm just not used to her bigger curves yet...she can def "swing it" just as well going forward, but backing that a$$ up is a different story..got an extra foot of overall length. As to fuel economy, I'm a horrible person to ask - I'm always driving in 3rd-5th (usually 4th) so I burn gas at a much greater rate than the average individual...that being said, I have noticed that it sips the black gold at a greater rate...how great that difference is has yet to be determined.

I agree, but I'd still say it's closer to the E than C If I had to choose. I actually really love the E coupe, I may trade up when I graduate next year.

I might be interested in the E-Class sedan (4Matic) at some point but cannot handle the column-mounted gear selector. I hated that in my 7-Series and wonder if MB will do what BMW eventually did and go back to the console-mounted shifter.

Ours is much easier to use than what was in the 7 series...imo it really isn't that bad, and I really like the steering wheel mounted shifters..

IMO: It seems MB copied BMW, so it will be interesting to see if they also copy them on the reversal of that decision.
Well, I guess this is really an E-forums topic anyway.

Also took off the sidemarkers and put smoked ones on, debadged the trunk and put in led license plate lamps...
That should be the extent of the "modding" that I will do

i havent had to deal with it yet in my C but I dont think it will be an issue with 4Matic. Ee dont have that much awful snow here in NYC and when we do my wife (who drives up to CT for work) will either stay home or take the train.
