Buying C200. Need advice

I have been looking to buy a C200. Am getting an Approved Used 2008 C200 Kompressor SE from Mercedes dealer. However, the accelaration on the car seems to be slow, and the gear changes (automatic) are jerky. I notice a difference from the other cars that I have test driven. The gear changes and accelartion difference is there in both [C]omfrot/ [S]tandard drive modes.

Dealer tells me two reasons not to worry (1) car has just come in, so their garage would go through before handing over and (2) automatic cars adjust to driving habit - previous driver would have liked a slow accelaration, and so not responding quickly to the accelaration/ jerky gear change.

Would appreciate advice on whether I should go ahead with the purchase. Price is better than other 2008 C200 on sale, so its tempting. Or is the price low because there is a bigger problem they are hiding and I would need to keep running to dealer?
Thanks in advace,
Vikis

Expecting a 2-liter 4-cylinder 3500 lb car to NOT be slow is a bit optimistic.

But, the trans should not be rough regardless of any previous learning it may have stored. Any theories to the contrary are without merit.

If you have any reservations about the jerky transmission & performance you would be unwise to buy it.

There are plenty more fish in the sea.

Remember the psychology of buying . Your brain will want to complete the deal quickly.Car salesmen know this. Wait for the heat to go out of the purchase ( about 4 days !) then make another appraisal of the car.

I do not know where you are from but if the diesel 220CDI is available you should test drive it. No sluggishness , 400 newton metres of torque which suits the auto gearbox, & great economy ( 6.7 l/100 km overall).

Thanks for the response. Have also been suggested that should get TCU reset and test drive again. Maybe will try that, and then decide if comfortable or not.

@RLE - am comparing the acceleration/ gear change against other C200 that i have test driven. Unfortunately, the smoother ones are also more expensive, hence trying to see if can work out!!

I have a c200k 2009.I bought it new and i have been very happy so far. For my taste, i think the car is very fast. Is nornal that the transmission in sport mode feels a little bit diferent than a normal car because of the kompressor. One of the reason they do not sell the c 200k in Us is that the sale of the 6 cyl. will go down. If you are not a race driver and you drive both model you would not pat the extra money for the 5 cyl. Here in Dom. Rep. A c200k costs us$53,000 and the c350 us$70,000 and with the same pacjage.
