Properly welded, the metal will break before the weld. If a weld should fail or a tube crack, they can be rewelded, it is not hard and doesn't cost much

I can not find the OBX headers on ebay for the C350...? Do you have another option to find them?

I found the Kleeman HiFlow exhaust headers for C 350 but it says it requires cutting and soldering and more so it requires the ECU from them to function.

Who are the companies who can supply a header that is a direct bolt on installation.

Google searched OBX W204 Headers yielded this link on first page:
https://dragtimes.com/parts/OBX-HEAD...756043563.html

I'm sure digging more you can find more vendors.

I believe my GF got them from ebay, from the dragtimes website. Fitment was great, driver side steering column rubs a bit under hard canyon turns, but i reused my old gasket, the obx gaskets were much thicker..would of bought me a few mm more. I heard a remedy for the steering column is to make a dent in the headers where they meet the column. Thats what the w203 guys did.

It seems the OBXs are just MIA from all stores... all the links drop at ended posts on ebay and no where else to be found... for 300 USD I would give them a try before dishing out a few thousand on Kleemann Headers.

Anyone ?

http://cgi.ebay.ca/OBX-Exhaust-Heade...item2c5d9073fe

for the headers

I really wanna pick em up
gonna go talk to the guy who is doing my quad exhaust if he can do this.

350$ not bad at all.
With the headers, ECU tune xpipe, high flow mufflers, how much HP you think c300 can pull?

Honestly, this would be more for sound than power. Our stock exhaust is as high flow as it gets. I've taken off the muffler and stock resonator before and they are already optimized for performance.

The manifold may provide gains, but would most likely be very marginal over stock.

I hate to break it, but our cars were very well designed. No intake or exhaust can really provide much of a hp gain. Please keep in mind that hp ratings can change with a mere "reset" of our ECU, then it goes back to what it was.

The only real hp gain we can get is a true ecu remapping, leaning out our fuel mixture to become stoichmatic. Most if not all cars from the factory run a little rich as a safety precaution.

If you're looking for just HP gains then yes.

Knowing that I wasn't going to gain any hp, I still modified my exhaust for the sound and appearance.

well thats not honestly true, the C is tuned pretty well from the manufacturer, but theres definietly a little HP to be gained from exhaust mods (right ones). I am going to the dyno next week and I have done filters, customized meisterschaft exhaust, and a ECU tune on my newest C350 and I will be close to 300 if not over. With these little mods you have to have someone specifically tune the ECU to optimize them fully with your car on the dyno, otherwise its mostly sound and look. My mom has a stock 2010 C350 w 10k miles on it and I had my cousin drive it last month after I broke the new car in and did my mods. We did a dead stop traffic light romp side by side and I had him by almost 2 car lengths avg. to 90-100 MPH in every run, 3 runs. Im going off that, car feels faster, but mine also has paddles and I run in M mode, moms car in S mode

hi Jimmy,

I absolutely agree with you. With the right exhaust mods (right ones) the car can gain some hp, however not very significant for the w204. I used to be a tuner and developed aftermarket performance parts so I am quite familiar with actual performance gains of mods.

there are many variables that must be accounted for when accurately quantifying true hp gains.

To start with the basics:
1. Use the same car. Manufactures have tolerance specs which cause variations from car to car. So comparing two cars with different set ups is not the way to go. Also drag racing against others or oneself is very inaccurate. Response time varies from person to person and even within the same person. The rate of acceleration between a person that stepped on the gas pedal .05 seconds apart is very different.
2. Gas put in the car should be from the same batch. Getting gas at the same gas station and pump between Monday morning and Tuesday afternoon can net very different results. Gas being pumped from a tank that is almost depleted means the fuel has time to absorb more moisture from the void in the tank compared to gas that was pumped from a tank that was just recently topped off by a gas tanker.
3. Same dyno machine and technician. There is a lot of variations between one dynomometer to another.
4. Environment, air density is a key factor to a good combustion. Ambient air and car temperature and barametric pressure has a huge effect on performance. For example, a full day at the track I ran 15.7 during the day (warm) until the temperature dropped in the evening i ran a consistent 15.3 (this was done in another car).
5. Dyno same day with and without the mod, per mod without tuning. (You are right, tuning a car specifically to the modifications put on is critical.) However, a baseline dyno with the car "tuned" to before the mods were installed should be done as a control. Comparing a stock car to a modified plus tuned will not reflect the true gains the specific modifications have contributed if at all.

6. Flow test the parts, collecting data that supports realistic factors for performance gains. For example, for NA cars, there has to be a balance of the right amount of free flowing exhaust as well as back pressure net hp gain. NA cars generally have camshafts that are designed to have a minor overlap in time where the exhaust valve closes and the intake valve opens. This is designed so the escaping exhaust gas helps "suck" the new fresh air in. force inducted cars have little to no overlap to increase the density of air in the cylinders before both valves are shut for a stronger combustion.

Finally, an exhaust system can only be as efficient as the amount of air that the intake can suck in. Beyond the amount of efficiency the exhaust system can "exhaust" gasses is the weight of the system itself. Depending on what market a person is in (unsalted roads), going with aluminized steel for a cat back system might be a better option because of weight savings and cost. For others with deep pockets, titanium seems to be a great alternative.

IMO it's all about enjoying what you have and what you add to what you have. Understanding the true values of published numbers are very important to avoid one of the worse feelings in the world, buyer's remorse.

very well put, alot of people dont realize the actual R&D process of tuning and performance parts. I have some experience as well (less than u I bet) but have a understanding of the process. I spent alot of time modding (doing most of the installs of the aftermarket parts) in my GF's fathers GT500 shelby (2010) this past year and spent many days at the dyno watching them adjusting and tweaking, and absorbing what goes into a true tuning of an engine. Hes up to 831HP on 104 race fuel and 18lbs of boost! I never knew alot about superchargers or turbos just basic functionality til I got involved w this car, and I learned alot. I know about all the variables w temp, humidity, altitude, etc., and I just wanted a rough baseline for something to compare the car to, so moms was perfect. My cousin has a 911S non-turbo air-cooled and he drove the car for a bit and got on it to clear its throat, we both get super at same station (biz account) so it was somewhat controlled. The last run I watched him instead of the light and jumped on it after he responded, and I still had him by a full car length plus. My 2008 would lose to his 911 everytime we messed around, Im neck in neck w it in the 2011 as long as Im quick, hes got a stick and his launch isnt too good, but definitely can say Ive made HP gains and this car is tight and quicker than the last 350 I had

Since i already have an xpipe and magnaflow mufflers with qaud tips i already have the sound i want and look i need
so to add some HP ill defs do the ECU instead of the headers

headers+ECU > ECU alone.

talk to a member named Karo he has a c350 w203 and has the obx headers as well, and he can give you more input on them than any of us can.
